Rock (classic), Middle Eastern. Grateful Dead meets Kirtan
The Colony Cafe
Rock City Road
Woodstock, NY   See Map
Featuring Mark Karan (Ratdog/Grateful Dead Guitarist) and Wynne Paris (Kirtan pioneer). A Mantra Rock experience in association with Shakti Yoga

Aiko Aiko, Ram Ram ... Sunshine Deva is a new mantra rock band formed by Kirtan pioneer, Wynne Paris co-founder of the Lovelight Festival this June (co-founded with Michael Lang) and Ratdog/Grateful Dead family guitarist Mark Karan. Mixing Kirtan and mantra rock seems like a new thing, and doing it with a Grateful Dead/Jamband style is even fresher, maybe Sunshine Deva is tapping into a mythology that goes back to the Summer of Love. Sunshine Deva will be exploring that connection a bit more deeply, literally mashing up Grateful Dead songs and mantra chants. Whether it’s chanting Aiko Aiko, or Ram Ram, the goal is to bring the audience to a blissful space while singing from the heart and dancing in the streets. Hold on to your Mala’s folks, it’s gonna be a wild ride!

Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center Theatre
12 Vassar St.
Poughkeepsie, NY   See Map
On this weekend in July, the Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center in Poughkeepsie will be the venue for a swinging "More Sinatra, Big Band Style" show presented by The Big Band Sound 25-piece jazz orchestra, including six vocalists and swing dance performers, and it will benefit the Sparrow's Nest local charity in a show spotlighting the music of Frank Sinatra and his friends. Sinatra started off singing with the big bands of Harry James and Tommy Dorsey and he then went on to his spectacular solo career where he was often backed by other famous big bands. This original "More Sinatra, Big Band Style" show will highlight the best of the tunes in the Great American Songbook that Frank Sinatra and his friends brought into our lives, all in the most exciting setting of a live big band. Performances are Friday, July 19th at 8 p.m., Saturday, July 20th at 8 p.m. and Sunday July 21st at 2 p.m. Admission is $20 with proceeds benefiting the Sparrow's Nest charity.

Three great comedians, One great night! Jackie Martling is an American stand-up comedian, writer, radio personality, author, and actor also known as “Jackie the Joke Man.” Tommy Goochhas headlined the Borgata Comedy Club in Atlantic City, has been a regular at the world famous Broadway Comedy Club in NYC, and has been a guest on SiriusXM and Spectrum TV. His ranting, self-deprecating, family oriented style of comedy has made him a crowd favorite for years! Don’t miss Tommy’s natural lovable off the cuff comedy! John Iavarone was born in the Bronx and lived there until his mom decided to migrate miles away (2 to be exact) on to the mean streets of...Westchester County. Now, John has his headquarters in “The Heights.” John has been doing stand-up comedy for 2,920 days (not in a row). Whether it’s an 8 minute or 38 minute set at a Club, Corporate Function, Private Party or Fundraiser John’s audience describes his hysterically funny set in one word, Honest, Original, Animated!
