Saturday 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm | Flying Cat Music Presents an Evening with Ray Bonneville Blues, Americana, and Acoustic | Phoenicia Playhouse 10 Church Street Phoenicia, NY See Map |
Ray Bonneville strips his bluesy Americana down to its essentials and steeps it in the humid grooves of the South, creating a compelling poetry of hard living and deep feeling. Jim Withers (Montreal Gazette) describes his sound as “folk-roots gumbo… a languid Mississippi Delta groove, seasoned with smooth, weathered vocals and a propulsive harmonica wheeze.”
His awards include a prestigious Juno, the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy, for his 1999 album, Gust of Wind. Ray has shared the bill with blues heavyweights Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Dr. John, J.J. Cale, and Robert Cray, and has guested on albums by Mary Gauthier, Gurf Morlix, Eliza Gilkyson, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and other prominent musicians. Buy tickets -- $25

Sunday 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm | Jeff Karoub Singer-Songwriter, Americana | Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts Online and on the radio, NY See Map |
Jeff Karoub lives a life of words and music in Michigan, mostly in and around Detroit. The place informs and inspires him—he wrote a song about it and his family’s century-plus within it. “Made by Motown” serves as a tribute and declarative statement for his "rhythm-and-roots folk."
The singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is a melding of Motown, northern Michigan and the Middle East—"roots" he brings to bear in a catalog of five albums and multiple singles that have earned him interviews and airplay on radio stations and stages around the globe. The son of a French hornist who played for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Motown Records, Jeff mines song ideas from his family’s history and the people and places he has chronicled as a journalist. Highlights have included playing Finland's Kaustinen Folk Festival and being selected as a “folk showcase” artist at the Folk Alliance Region Midwest (FARM) conference. He also performs as part of Jeff Karoub and Garrison Corner.
