A very special fundraiser for “The Falcons” of Vail Farm Elementary School of Rock - a club established to promote the genre of Rock & Roll, introducing a new generation of young people to Rock’s unique musical styles and its artists.

Established in 2017, the VFE School of Rock began as a guitar program with over eighty students, teaching the basics of guitar. In its second year VFE School of Rock offered students new opportunities, and expanded to include a drum program. The program now offers sessions for new and advanced guitar players, and an opportunity to perform in front of an audience as “The Falcons” named for their school mascot.

"Winard Harper is one of his generation's greatest standards bearers." Downbeat Magazine

Winard Harper has performed with some of the greatest names in jazz. At 20, he was playing the drums first with Dexter Gordon, and then Johnny Griffin, and honed his chops for the next four years under the tutelage of the late, great Betty Carter.

With his brother Philip Harper on trumpet, Winard led The Harper Brothers, one of the hottest groups of the post-bop era and produced the chart topping Remembrance: Live at the Village Vanguard.

Winard has released four CD's to his credit: Be Yourself (1994), Trap Dancer (1998), Winard (1999), and Faith with Carrie Smith (2000). He is one of the most sough-after sidemen on the jazz circuit; has been exploring African rhythms that influence his work, and is noted for his abilities on the cymbals, which under his hand become an outstanding solo instrument all their own.

Chubby continues to play more than 200 club dates a year, and has released numerous albums worldwide, since. Most notably, his Sony/Okeh debut, 'Booty and the Beast', was produced by longtime Atlantic Records engineer/producer TOM DOWD, whose recordings are legendary!

Popa Chubby latest album "Prime Cuts: The Very Best of the Beast from the East", is self-selected “greatest hits” collection includes favorite cuts from his nearly three decades of bringing his version of the blues to the people. Blend a powerful singer, crisp acoustic guitar player and a heartfelt observer of the world and you have singer-songwriter, Lynn Hollyfield. Her "indie-folk-pop style," (Leicasterbangs, UK), reflects an infusion of many influences including great jazz artists, such as Ella Fitzgerald, to contemporary influences of John Hiatt, Shawn Colvin and CSNY. The resulting blend is her own voice, mingling wit, a silky sweetness and thoughtful reverie to her songwriting and performance. Hollyfield has two solo recordings, Layers (2010) and In the Balance (2014). Both recordings listed in the Top Albums of the Year-Folk DJ Listserv and received numerous Washington Area Music Award nominations including Album, Songwriter and Artist of the Year. "Some artists are known for their voice or their delivery or maybe their songs or for their guitar playing. Lynn is not just 'some artist.' "Cookpot (2017) is a boiling and bubbling cauldron of African hi-life and every other kind of rhythmic style....a moving feast of homegrown music, heavily inflected with jazzy improvisations....often mixing Earth, Wind and Fire grooves with percussive tumbling....set on a collision course with myriad of styles in the popular realm." - World Music Report

Widely recognized as one of the most remarkable drummers to tour in Africa, Europe, and the US, Paa Kow has toured internationally, sharing stages with both African and American luminaries.

The Ghana-born drummer and composer, Paa Kow, (pronounced Pah-Ko), blends the rhythm and artistry of his home with jazz and African roots, creating his own Afro-Fusion sound.

His release, Cookpot, (2017) has all the ingredients and deep rhythms to tastefully serve up that cookin' groove Paa Kow calls Afro-Fusion.
