Multiple Grammy Nominee and Guggenheim and MacArthur Fellow Miguel Zenón represents a select group of musicians who have masterfully balanced and blended the often contradictory poles of innovation and tradition. Widely considered as one of the most groundbreaking and influential saxophonists of his generation, he has also developed a unique voice as a composer and as a conceptualist, concentrating his efforts on perfecting a fine mix between Latin American Folkloric Music and Jazz.

Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Zenón has released eleven recordings as a leader, including Yo Soy La Tradición (2018) and the Grammy Nominated Típico (2017).

Zenón has topped both the Jazz Artist of the Year and Alto Saxophonist categories on the 2014 Jazz Times Critics Poll and was selected as the Alto Saxophonist of the Year by the Jazz Journalist Association in 2015 and 2018.

Born and raised in the heart of the Canadian prairies and maturing on the west coast of British Columbia, Noah Derksen writes with the groundedness of harsh Manitoba winters mixed with the optimism of British Columbia’s coastline. Ever seeking motion and progression, Noah has spent the past three years honing his live performance skills across Canada and in select regions of the United States, playing concerts from BC to Nova Scotia, and New York to California. In 2018 alone, Noah played at renowned venues and events such as the National Arts Centre(Ottawa, ON), Northwest Folklife Festival (Seattle, WA), Trout Forest Music Festival (Ear Falls, ON), and theWinnipeg Folk Festival (Winnipeg, MB). With a self-described genre of “contemplative folk”, Noah’s introspective nature is immediately apparent, felt through honest and poetic lyricism alongside aesthetic musical arrangements.

On March 1st, 2019, Noah released the first part of a new album, entitled America, Dreaming.

His Mom was a blues singer. His Dad played jazz guitar. By age 17, Armstrong was touring the country, and by his 20s, became the youngest member of Smokey Wilson's band. In the 1980s, James was a founding member of the band Mama Roo and received his first recording contract for Crescendo Records.

Events surrounding a home invasion left Armstrong without the use of his left hand and arm, and threatened to end his career forever. In the tragedy he gained in “a whole new respect for the music itself, the power in slow blues, how the silences between the notes are as important as the notes.”

Blues Been Good to Me (2017) is his latest release on CatFood Records. Two prior CDs with CatFood Records: Blues at The Border (2011) and Guitar Angels (2014), ranked in the top 40 in Living Blues radio charts.
