Marlboro, NY   See Map
Hope Rocks The Falcon is a mini music and arts festival providing opportunities and education, concerning the rising epidemic of addiction, mental health issues, overdose and suicide.

In an effort to address the exploding epidemic of death due to addiction and suicide, a grassroots response has being created in the form of The Hope Rocks Festival - an explosion of activities, art, music and more, in the spirit of bringing light to the darkness of addiction and suicide.

Hope Rocks Festival organizer and Saugerties elementary school teacher, Joe Defino, is appreciative of the support shown by The Falcon. “We are thrilled to have The Falcon involved. Hopelessness is a problem which is growing and we see it everywhere,” said Defino. “The Falcon recognizes what we are trying to do and has generously offered their venue to assist in our mission. This is a beautiful example of a grassroots attack on the problem which is critical to its control.”

Heavy Psych Rock Showcase in Monroe
with Sun Voyager, Cotango, Easy Talk, Gunslinger
Rock (modern), Hard/Metal, and Rock (progressive)
Monroe AOH
8 North Main Street
Monroe, NY   See Map
Hailing from the mountains of New York's Hudson Valley region, Sun Voyager, currently based in New York City, found their sound in a frigid shed during some long winters. You could it psychedelic, you could call it stoner, you could find traces of desert, doom, and anything in between, but it's hard to put a real name to it.

The Obelisk recently called it "cosmic grunge." Recyclable Sounds calls it "traditionalist post-Hawkwind moto-space rock." Put bluntly by Decibel Magazine, "If you’re a connoisseur of the latest in fuzzed-out heavy music, Sun Voyager are a band that should have a place on your radar."

Give whatever name you want to their sound, they've never played by any rules or tried to sound a certain way because music is not a sport with rules to play by. It’s all about expression and making your own rules.

In the year prior to releasing their debut album, Seismic Vibes, they performed at Meltasia, Indian Summer, SXSW, Northside Music Fest, and more.

Acoustic pop duo Barbara and Mike Borok. Their many songwriter awards include Grand Prize at the Music to Life Songwriting Contest at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas. Their songs, which have been played on over 50 radio stations worldwide, are adventurously original and walk a thin line between the funny and the serious. They are currently featured on the Women of Substance podcast and the Funny Music Project web site and podcast. The North County News wrote, “The songs written and performed by Barbara and Mike Borok included razor-sharp satire that echoed throughout an audience energized by appreciation for the talent on stage.” New Middle Class will be joined by bassist/guitarist Emile Menasché and other guests. $10 Admission. All About Elvis: Featuring the songs and stories of Elvis’ early genius years and a multimedia slide show.

Rex Fowler of AztecTwo-Step pays homage to the legacy of Elvis Aaron Presley when he and the Rockabilly Kings take the stage to perform a live concert of early Elvis classics accompanied by a multimedia slide show.

Drawing from his country roots and the African/American traditions of Gospel and Rhythm & Blues nurtured in the fertile soil of the Mississippi Delta, Elvis intuitively created a revolutionary groundbreaking sound that hadn't been imagined before. His work inspired artists such as John Lennon and Keith Richards to form their own bands and change popular music forever. Elvis’ musical contribution, cultural impact, and artistic achievement is unsurpassed as a 20th century icon. We’ll make room for you to dance so bring your Blue Suede Shoes and your bouffant do’s and boogie your blues away…

with Jessi Mason & Friends
Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Jessi Mason is a singer/songwriter whose songs are honest and intimate, her voice sweet and soulful. And her band ... kick-ass! One reviewer writes, "Mason is one of the best pop songwriters around. She travels the singer-songwriter axis with so much skill and self assurance that every song she has is a gem."

Jessi just released her second EP, "Night Owl". One of the songs on that album, "This One's On Me", won her a nomination for The 16th Annual Independent Music Awards. Another song, "Blue", pays tribute to a major influence of Jessi's, the legendary Joni Mitchell. There's poetry in her lyrics, as well. "I speak fluently in your metaphor", she swoons. "And I... I wanna sing like you." In this beautiful song, she most certainly does.

Jessi performs at venues such as Rockwood & the Shrine in NYC, The Mint in L.A. and many others. We're excited to welcome Jessi back to our 12 Grapes stage!

SlideAttack is a modern incarnation of the group led by the great J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding, co-led by two NY veteran trombonists, Alan Goidel and Howard Levy. SlideAttack plays fresh arrangements of jazz standards from the swing era to hard bop and beyond, by composers Kenny Dorham, J.J. Johnson, George Gershwin, Hank Mobley and others, along with original material.

"In so many ways, this music is so refreshing; excellent arrangements, interesting repertoire, all put together with the care and love that can only come from true dedication and appreciation for the kind of swinging jazz that one doesn't hear nearly enough nowadays. In the great tradition of the two-trombone groups of yesteryear, Mr. Levy and Mr. Goidel deserve our gratitude for keeping the tradition not only alive, but swinging!" - Loren Schoenberg, Artistic Director, The National Jazz Museum in Harlem

An Evening of Folk Revival
with Jim Kweskin, David Kraai
Folk/Traditional, Blues, and Jazz
Unison Arts & Learning Center
68 Mountain Rest Road
New Paltz, NY   See Map
Jim Kweskin is probably best known as a singer and bandleader. He also created one of the bedrock guitar styles of the folk revival, adapting the ragtime-blues fingerpicking of artists like Blind Boy Fuller to the more complex chords of pop and jazz. He has maintained a remarkably consistent musical vision since his jug band days, continuing to explore traditional folk and blues with the sophisticated sensibility of a jazz musician and jazz with the communal simplicity of a folk artist. He has recorded solo ventures, as a member of the U and I band, and with U and I bandmate Samoa Wilson, and continues to perform widely in various formats. In recent years he and Geoff Muldaur have often appeared as a duo, revisiting and expanding on their Jug Band repertoire. Opening up for Jim is Hudson Valley native & singer songwriter, David Kraai

with Marc Von Em, feat. Jeff Miller on keys, and Scott Harper on sax
Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Marc's original music is influenced by folk, funk & blues. As one reviewer wrote: "If you haven't seen Marc Von Em perform live, you're only cheating yourself."

Marc is able to create amazing amounts of sound and diversity through his voice and one faithful guitar. His chops are wide-ranging, from delicate finger picking to rambunctious Pete Townsend-type strumming. Marc is able to seamlessly switch his vibe -- his dynamic voice can go from smooth & soaring to smoky scatting. His harmonica playing is equally impressive and he sometimes uses it to accompany Muddy Waters-style blues on guitar.

Marc has toured with The Rob Thomas Band -- including a tour with the famed '90s band, Counting Crows. Rob once wrote, "... when I heard his original stuff, I asked [Marc] to open up a 10,000 seat gig. Just him, his guitar, and his songs. He killed it!"

Marc is joined tonight by Jeff Miller on keys and Scott Harper on sax. Gonna be fun!
