Celebrated Singer-Songwriter To Appear In Hyde Park
with Rod MacDonald and Mark Dann
Singer-Songwriter, Americana, and Acoustic
Hyde Park Free Library Annex
2 Main St.
Hyde Park, NY   See Map
Another veteran of the Greenwich Village folk scene, Rod MacDonald's happily ensconced in Delray and still manages to eke out a pretty good living with frequent touring and an ongoing series of master classes at FIU where he lectures on songwriting and technique.Prior to relocating to these realms in 1995, MacDonald was a constant presence at many of New York's most prestigious folk clubs, including Gerdes Folk City and the Bottom Line, and his level activity both here and abroad hasn't faltered since. Despite frequent overseas tours, he manages to make regular Florida appearances, not only under his own auspices, but also as part of his Dylan tribute band Big Brass Bed and in a traditional group setting with singer Tracy Sands. Their songs are devoted to social and political commentary; his "American Jerusalem" was hailed for its commentary about the contrast between the rich and the poor. It's little wonder his material has been covered by the likes of Dave Van Ronk, Shawn Colvin.

Meet and Greet Available! Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Drummer Max Weinberg’s new tour “Max Weinberg’s Jukebox” has one concept that will excite fans: the small venue. Fresh off the hugely successful The River Tour 2016-2017 of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, Weinberg brings a truly interactive experience that invites the audience to create in real time the set list he and his crack four-piece group will play that night. Performing songs from the glory days of rock and roll your guests get to choose from a video menu of over 200 songs- everything from the Beatles to the Stones to Bruse and The E Street Band’s biggest hits- and hear the group play’em they way they want to hear them played. That’s right- the crowd gets to yell out their choices and Max plays them! This unique approach is fun and satisfying. How many times have you attended a show where you yearned to hear your favorite performer play your favorite song? With Max Weinberg’s Jukebox your dream will be realized. We

WE ARE SO EXCITED TO HAVE DIANE CLUCK IN THE HOUSE! W/ KINGSTON'S OWN GREG GONDEK!

"Bell-clear and hotly austere, her lithe, dynamic voice hasn't much kin. Categorizing her as folk is simplistic, Cluck emanates something humble but mythic. Appalachia or ancient Athens? Both hum and lilt in the unpretentious drama of her airy songs". -Time Out New York

A presentation in The Falcon's continuing series - A Celebration of Black American Culture - to include artistic performance and progressive exploration and exchange.

"The purpose of Negro Manifesto is to motivate constructive dialogue between people who might otherwise not cross paths. I want to bring people together from different ethnic backgrounds, religions, sex, political affiliation, tax bracket, etc. Most people find that they actually have more in common than they do differences." - Dana Murray.

After attending the Berklee College of Music on scholarship, Omaha native, Murray moved to NYC on the advice of jazz legends Max Roach and Victor Lewis. He toured the world with Wynton Marsalis and began gigging with Donald Byrd, Jimmy Witherspoon, Roy Hargrove, Sherman Irby, Marc Cary and Russell Gunn, among others. As a producer, he has worked with local and commercial labels as well as Blue Note Records releases.

Featuring: Dante DeFelice (vocals/guitar), Elliot Cash (guitar), Duncan Clark (bass), and Matt Bliss (drums)

Anti Folk band from Marlboro NY, Letterii, will break your heart and make you laugh/cry with their infectious songs. Sounds of the 60's folk and underground rock movement dance behind avant-garde arrangements, floating electric guitar chatter, and DeFelice's crafty wordsmith work paired with his charismatic stage antics. Letterii is currently in their home studio working on their first album and playing a handful of shows in and around the Hudson Valley.

AZTEC TWO-STEP features Rex Fowler & Friends:

As Neal Shulman is on hiatus from touring, after the passing of his beloved wife Karen, Rex Fowler welcomes Steven “Muddy” Roues (Jon Pousette-Dart) on double bass; and Dodie Pettit (Broadway’s “Phantom of the Opera” and “Cats”) on vocals and guitar, to the Aztec Two Step stage. The ensemble will present vintage fan favorites as well as highlights from their newest release “Naked” (2017).

In 1972, Aztec Two-Step burst upon the scene with their self-titled debut album on Elektra Records. Since then Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman have spent a lifetime making music together as the folk/rock duo Aztec Two-Step. Their first album, along with their subsequent albums for RCA Records were staples of progressive FM and college radio and helped to bring the folk/rock music of the 1960s into the 70s and beyond.

Their newest release is simply called “Naked” and it remains true to form - revealing, transcending, and very cool.
