Whether fulfilling the role of vocalist, emcee, showman, or impresario, Michael Mwenso conveys both the sophistication and spontaneity of hardcore jazz and the music’s folkloric roots with impeccable craft, creativity, and communicative flair.

Most frequently, Mwenso performs as leader—or ringleader—of Michael Mwenso and The Shakes, a revue comprising between three to five vocalists and a rotating ensemble that includes rising stars. From time to time, internationally acclaimed singer Cecile McLorin Salvant and pianists Jonathan Batiste, Aaron Diehl and Sullivan Fortner—among others—augment this close-knit musical family. All developed their ideas and accrued public visibility at late night shows booked and overseen by Mwenso since 2012 (when he joined Jazz At Lincoln Center as Curator and Programming Associate) at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at JALC’s complex in New York’s Time-Warner Center.

Dizzy Gillespie famously said “One foot in the past and one in the future,” to which could be added- if you are talking about the music of Michael Wolff and Mike Clark--with feet firmly planted in the here and now.

Wolff and Clark are in the present - together they naturally explore. Defying the boundaries of genre, they bring swing, groove and a unique deconstructive take on classic jazz, popular standards, and original compositions - creating a freedom and an electrifying sound.

A musician’s musician, Michael Wolff has earned his reputation as an original pianist and composer

A true ambassador of rhythm, Mike Clark is known around the world for his diverse and innovative playing.

Over a career spanning more than 40 years and nearly 50 albums, John Abercrombie has established himself as one the masters of jazz guitar.

L.A.-based buzz band THE RECORD COMPANY tours behind their new album Give It Back to You, which features the recent #1 hit single, “Off the Ground”. The rock/roots trio of Chris Vos (guitar, lead vocals, harmonica), Alex Stiff (bass, guitar, vocals) and Marc Cazorla (drums, piano, vocals) has already been hailed by LA Weekly for “making bluesy music that would sound more at home in a sweaty, backwoods Mississippi juke joint,” while Time Out Los Angeles has described their sound as “reminiscent of some of the best acts of the ’50s and ’60s—like if John Lee Hooker and the Stooges had a well-behaved love child.” The comparisons are apt. “We have been influenced by early electric blues, so some of that influence certainly shows,” acknowledges Vos. “But we’re just as influenced by bands like the Stones and The Stooges as we are by blues legends like Hooker, Muddy Waters and Jimmy Reed.”

SPECIAL GUESTS: The Fabulous Rainbows Singers Starting out as The McClinton Sisters in 1965 , Prophetess Lucille Dukes was guided by The Lord to name the ensemble The Rainbow Singers. Manager, Doris A. Milburn, and singers Phyllis Harris, Sylvia Green and Audrey E Giles with fantastic musicians, Charles Johnson/guitar, Ronald Morris/bass and Reginald Davis/drums, have traveled all over the US and Africa - going where God allows them. They have ministered in Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Prisons, and to The Homeless, spreading the gospel in song.

SALT is an aggregation of musicians/singers whose hearts and minds bring to us the God-flavor of the Earth - alive and vibrant!

Corey Dandridge, the eldest son of a pastor, has a passion for sharing the Good News through song.

Wednesday Night Jam The Postage Inn 838 Rt. 32 Tillson, NY www.postageinn.com

We've been having a great time playing our bluesy jazzy originals and have been joined by dozens of fine players to jam on tunes of many genres.

We will be playing a short opening set at 8 PM then sharing the stage with other musicians and friends.

JOIN US FOR GOOD FOOD, DRINKS AND GROOVING TUNES. (check out the music night menu and home made deserts)

(Musicians note) There will be a sign up sheet for any players who want to take the stage. The PA, guitar and bass amp and drums will be provided. We will try to match players for the best musical expression. Each player is guaranteed 3 songs as time permits.

The singer generally calls the tune which can be in any genre as long as the other players know it. The blues is always a good fall back as everyone should know the 12 bars.

Our guiding principals are: RESPECT THE OTHER PLAYERS NOT TOO LOUD HAVE A GOOD TIME!

Veteran musicians Joe Gil (trombone), Neil Alexander (organ and keyboards) and Nadav Snir-Zelniker (drums) have put together a new group called the "Thunderhead Organ Trio". The group is taking the concept of the organ trio in a new and different direction, drawing on many different influences and styles. The group explores the grittier, rockier side of the genre referencing groups like the original Tony Williams Lifetime and mines the jazz standard repertoire for obscure gems and deep cuts.

The group will be playing original tunes, jazz standards, lost classics and rare gems.

A TWO-TIME BEST OF WESTCHESTER WINNER for "Best Karaoke", 12 Grapes' Live Band Karaoke puts you center stage, singing with a live band and even back-up singers. It's way more fun than singing to a pre-recorded track.

We have nearly 200 songs on our list, including '70s, '80s, '90s and contemporary pop/rock/soul. Choose songs from Aretha to Adele, Stevie Wonder to Steppenwolf, AC/DC to Weezer and everything in between! The band does two sets - sign up to sing one song per set. You'll be cheering and singing along, song after song.

With Tito Wilson on drums, Chris Burke on keys, Artie Walker on bass and Hank DeCora on guitar.
