Robbie Dupree began his music career singing on the street corners of Brooklyn. His passion for music flourished in the rich, creative atmosphere of the late 1960s. Moving to New York City during these exciting days, Robbie dedicated himself to songwriting and the pursuit of a solo career.
He studied the work of R&B legends such as Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke. Their powerful rhythms and sensual melodies became the foundation of Robbie’s emerging style, which would take him through several ensembles in the city and eventually to Woodstock, where he garnered national acclaim with his song "When You're Down."
In 1978 Robbie struck out with his own debut album, earning two Top Ten singles and a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. |

Winard Harper has performed with some of the greatest names in jazz. At 20, he was playing the drums first with Dexter Gordon, and then Johnny Griffin, and honed his chops for the next four years under the tutelage of the late, great Betty Carter.
With his brother Philip Harper on trumpet, Winard led The Harper Brothers, one of the hottest groups of the post-bop era and produced the chart topping Remembrance: Live at the Village Vanguard.
Winard has released four CD's to his credit: Be Yourself (1994), Trap Dancer (1998), Winard (1999), and Faith with Carrie Smith (2000). He is one of the most sough-after sidemen on the jazz circuit; has been exploring African rhythms that influence his work, and is noted for his abilities on the cymbals, which under his hand become an outstanding solo instrument all their own.

| For the 6th year in a row, the Dautaj will be presenting the "Chris Persad Group" on Saturday evening, August 29 in Warwick, NY. This high energy hard bop sextet will be performing arrangements by Hank Mobley, J.J. Johnson, and Dexter Gordon. The group features some of the best jazz musicians in the Hudson Valley and New York City featuring a front line horn section led by Persad on trumpet, Danny Walsh on Tenor Sax, and Dan Chester on Trombone. The rhythm section features Joe Vincent Tranchina on Piano, Robert Kopec on Bass, and Scott Nuemann on Drums. Special guest jazz vocalist Charanee Wade will also be performing with the group.  A completely unexpected call in 2005 would drop Shayna Steele squarely in the middle of genre she had absolutely no experience with: Electronica. Hearing that Moby "needed a screamer" for a track on his album "Hotel", resulted in the disc's second single "Raining Again". Two years later, she was laying down vocals for "Extreme Ways (2007)" - Moby's theme song to The Bourne Ultimatum - and "Disco Lies", the first single off Moby's 2008 release "Last Night".
Steele began writing music with partner David Cook in 2002, collaborating on Steele's eponymous debut EP in 2004. The album's breakout soul-funk single "High Yella" achieved the attention of, and performances with, Ledisi, George Clinton and the Sugar Hill Gang, Bjorkestra and Snarky Puppy (2014 Nice Jazz Festival).
It was the release of Shayna's first full-length album "I'll Be Anything", co-written with Cook that put Shayna on the map as a legitimate solo artist. |

 Orlando Marin, a contemporary of such greats as Tito Puente, Machito, and Tito Rodriguez, is the only orchestra leader from New York’s golden era of mambo who still performs regularly.
Orlando formed his first band, Eddie Palmieri and his Orchestra and, since then, has played with several different bands and has performed in the famous Palladium Ballroom. In 1997, Latin music historiographer Max Salazar presented Orlando a plaque in recognition of nearly five decades of uninterrupted contribution to Latin music. In January 2003, Orlando was invited by Latin Jazz station, WPFW, by the Arlington County (Virginia) Cultural Arts Division, and by the Latin American Folk Institute to do a live concert in Washington at The Spectrum Theater and in 2006, Congressman Jose E. Serrano honored Orlando as “The Last Mambo King,” for his continuing to provide Latin American music and his willingness to devote time to helping the less fortunate.

 You might know her as DaQueenV, Valerie Not Val, or simply Valerie. Her many names reflect her multiple talents. Valerie is a woman of many, and has shared them in the Hudson Valley over the past 10 plus years. Valerie is an author, has previously performed at the Paramount as an African dancer, sings Gospel (her first love) at several venues with her well-known Mount Olivet Baptist Church Choir and has been an MC at 12 Grapes Live Band Karaoke. Valerie is now extending her list of accomplishments to touring as an R&B/Soul/Jazz singer. Valerie Not Val has recently performed at the infamous Cutting Room in NYC (accompanying Mrs. Eve Soto).
Valerie Not Val and her band perform toe-tapping, head-bopping and nostalgic cover songs sure to leave a lasting impression.
