 By the time Tal National reached international acclaim with 2013’s ‘Kaani’, the band’s first release outside of Niger, they had spent more than a decade crisscrossing their native country, usually on dirt pathways through the Sahara, playing epic five-hour sets, seven days a week, selling their CDs on street corners and roundabouts. First comes Alonso’s son Ferdinand, who immediately falls in love with Miranda. Prospero tests their love by enslaving Ferdinand. As the other castaways appear on the island, Prospero must decide if he will take revenge on his enemies, or conjure a happy ending instead.

This one of a kind, multidisciplinary concert event will assemble a variety of local artists on The Falcon stage with the goal of creating, with the audience, a spontaneous performance of sight, sound, words and movement from structured improvisation.
Musicians, dancers, poets and visual artists will proceed to improvise their craft utilizing various methods and parameters that unfold as the performance progresses.

 I am honored to be the inaugural act of the 30th season of the Lunch 'N Listen concert series hosted by The First Lutheran Church of Poughkeepsie. The sets are about 45 min (so that people can get back to work!)
I will play acoustic slide instrumental guitar, and other fingerstyle guitar pieces, i.e. playing with one's fingers rather than a pick. There will also be humor songs, pop songs, a guest vocalist, and a ukulele accompaniment. Whether I am playing there or seeing someone else perform, Lunch 'N Listen is always a fun way to spend a Wednesday afternoon.
The First Lutheran Church is on the corner of Catherine and Mill Streets in Poughkeepsie. Light refreshments downstairs in the Fellowship Hall afterwards.

 Seventeen year old Guitar Slinger, Dylan Doyle, has been steeped in everything from Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, and Buddy Guy to Bob Dylan, Todd Snider and Jimi Hendrix and touring nationally since age fifteen. His unique musical interpretation lies somewhere between the delta of Rock, the Blues, and Funk.
Dylan has performed at the Grateful Garcia Gathering, one of the largest Grateful Dead festivals in the country and returns to play the 2015 King Biscuit Blues festival. He is looking forward to his first European tour in 2015.

 Singer, songwriter, and guitar virtuoso Jimmy Thackery carved an enviable niche for himself in the world of electric blues, known for his gritty, blue-collar approach and marathon live shows,
Thackery co-founded and spent fourteen years as part of The Nighthawks, one of the hardest-working blues bar bands in North America. Touring under his own name since 1987, he found widespread acceptance on the festival circuit. His hard-edged, tough-as-nails approach to guitar playing and his trio's driving rhythm section holds appeal for fans of Muddy Waters, Bruce Springsteen and Joe Grushecky.
His 1998 album, SWITCHING GEARS, includes guest performances by Joe Louis Walker, Lonnie Brooks, Chubby Carrier, and Francine Reed, but any of Thackery's albums will delight fans of tough, heavy, driving guitar playing.

 BIG NEWS! On Sun, Sept 20th, Shadetree Mechanics will be inducted into the NY Blues Hall of Fame. (They've always been in ours!) They were also runners up for the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation (JSJBF) Memphis Blues competition the past four years.
Shadetree plays a mix of standard & contemporary Blues and Rock with a little bit of N'Orleans thrown in. Everything from Muddy Waters and Etta James to BB King and Buddy Guy to Eric Clapton and Hendrix. Plus originals like "The More I Drink, The Better You Look" and "Wash My Blues".
The band includes Mike "The Rev" on vocals, percussion & washboard, Elmo John on bass, Mark Redman on guitar, Ray G on drums and Pat G on keys, with the occasional cameo by "washboard Rich". Come help us welcome Shadetree Mechanics back to our stage. You won't sit down all night!!
