He’s been playing festivals and jazz clubs in the New England region since the release of his first album. Soñando! The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
The hot Latin sounds of Soñando have earned them the reputation as the Hudson Valley's premier Latin band. This spicy blend of music and musicians have performed in clubs, at private functions, community festivals, benefit concerts, on radio and television, as well as the Puerto Rico Day Parade in NYC, but the band is at home wherever a dance floor can be cleared. Fueled by a fiery rhythm section and high-octane horns, Soñando plays a wide variety of Latin styles from Plena and Son to Salsa and Merengue!

"The name of the band is Spanish for "dreaming" but when the hordes come out for Soñando, they don't sleepwalk-they dance. And we're not talking a few perfunctory head-bobs or butt-wiggles, they dance until they go up in flames like, Tula's unquenchable bedroom in the Cuban lyrics above." -Woodstock Times

In 2013 The NY Times came up to hear the group, as pictured here in Warwick, a month prior to the HV Jazz Festival. They've performed throughout the valley including fund raisers at Bethel Woods and performances at Warwick Grove development.

This year's jazz festival, for which The BeanRunner will play a central role, will be held up and down the Hudson Valley from Aug. 27-30.

Marlboro, NY   See Map
Hipbone Records recording artist Alexis P Suter with Ray Grappone, drummer/percussionist and producer/vocalist Vicki Bell, deliver their mix of Gospel, Blues, Traditional, poignant, and time-honored American music, up-close and personal.

Blues Music Award nominee Alexis P. Suter is a powerhouse bass/baritone vocalist with the ability to go to "that other place" where singers go when they are lost in the music. It is no wonder the late B.B. King and the late Levon Helm are big fans. Suter and her band have played nearly 100 of Helm’s shows in Woodstock NY and opened for “The King” when he visited her hometown of NYC.

The Ministers of Sound feature Ray Grappone (APSB, Buster Poindexter, Levon Helm) on drums and percussion, Vicki Bell (APSB, Open Door, Corey Daye) on vocals and percussion, and Special Guest Dave Keyes on keyboards.

The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
"We are all Transient Beings. As far as we know, all beings on this earth have a temporary existence on this planet in our present form. This common fact unites us all, because it is just one of the many things we all share. Thus, we’re all together."

This group's unique sound is it’s instrumentation; vocals with effects throughout; two guitars play different but equal roles; electric bass providing a funky foundation and movement; and drums provide a series of grooves without losing a jazz sensibility.

Drummer, composer, and bandleader E.J. Strickland is most noted for his work with The Ravi Coltrane Quartet, The Marcus Strickland Quartet & Trio, & The Russell Malone Quartet. He currently leads his own bands The E.J. Strickland Quintet & The E.J. Strickland Project. His playing has been described as emitting “fields of cumulative energy, clouds of feather-touch and heavy-handed syncopations, latent with power like an oncoming storm” (Thomas Conrad, Downbeat Magazine).

Beacon, NY   See Map
Mike Compton and Joe Newberry celebrate one of the more neglected segments of country music history: that period during the '30s and '40s, when brother duet music was transforming into bluegrass. Both masters of the bedrock instruments of old time music, they collaborate with a vision that's both contemporary and ageless. Grammy and IBMA award-winning Mike Compton has also been named a player with "a worldwide reputation as one of the modern masters of bluegrass mandolin...one of the most recognizable and respected mandolin voices anywhere" by Mandolin Magazine. The New York Times calls Compton a “new bluegrass instrumental hero.” These two traditional music veterans love to play together, and it shows!

Jake LaBotz's old-timey blues and rootsy originals are influenced by the pre-war era blues guys still living in Chicago when he was a kid: David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Homesick James, Maxwell Street Jimmy Davis. Jake has opened for Ray Charles, Etta James, Dr. John, Buddy Guy, Jr. Wells, Taj Mahal, Buckwheat Zydeco, Tony Joe White, John Hammond and Mavis Staples whose band he has recorded with. Later in his musical life, LaBotz was fortunate to have learned from and played with his great influence, "Honeyboy" Edwards. Jake sometimes sings his songs and acts in film and television. He recently starred in the Stephen King/John Mellencamp/T-Bone Burnett stage musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, did a guest spot on HBO drama True Detective (as Conway Twitty), and had a supporting role in an action movie called Close Range. Jake is fresh off the road from a tour with JD McPherson.

Veteran musicians Joe Gil (trombone), Neil Alexander (organ and keyboards) and Jason Furman (drums) have put together a new group called the "Thunderhead Organ Trio". The group is taking the concept of the organ trio in a new and different direction, drawing on many different influences and styles. The group explores the grittier, rockier side of the genre referencing groups like the original Tony Williams Lifetime and mines the jazz standard repertoire for obscure gems and deep cuts.

THE BOOKENDS BAND has been performing since the late '70s when friends would crowd a local New Rochelle bar to listen to Chris and Joe, two "Bookends" performing all the acoustic Rock songs they, and the crowds, loved. Soon the early cover tunes and originals were adapted for the instrumentation of the larger band.

Bookends performs Classic and Acoustic Rock from The Beatles, Cat Stevens, Creedence Clearwater, Dylan, The Eagles, Van Morrison, Springsteen, Hendrix and so much more. Songs from the '60s, '70s and beyond. The Band includes Chris Brown on acoustic guitar/vocals, Lou Bellofatto on keys/vocals, Eddie Denise on bass/vocals and Anthony Summo on electric guitar/vocals. Chris Brown is a multi-talented, accomplished songwriter and artist. His original composition "One Ice Cube" was a winner at The Great American Song awards. These accomplished band members have performed with Carly Simon, Dion and others.
