The Hudson Valley Jazz Ensemble is comprised of jazz artists from the region. Led by Hudson Valley Jazz Festival founder and drummer, Steve Rubin, the group fluctuates from trio to sextet with vocals; the idea being to sustain a changing cast of area musicians that presents a different musical sense for each performance.In 2013 The NY Times came up to hear the group, as pictured here in Warwick, a month prior to the HV Jazz Festival. They've performed throughout the valley including fund raisers at Bethel Woods and performances at Warwick Grove development. Baum's playing has a deep funk to it, with a big influence of Jimmy Smith. And Baum also brings in all kinds of other things as well - dissonant jazz, alternative rock, R&B. He's not too far off from what John Medeski does with Medeski, Martin and Wood, but with more of a blues streak to it.

Seventeen year old Hudson Valley singer/songwriter, Erica Enriquez, began singing at four, and since has became proficient in guitar, ukulele and other instruments. Writing her own songs, she recently released her first album Talking to Myself Again, recorded and produced by her older brother Peter Enriquez, and is currently in the process of recording her next album entitled Sing Now!.Erica has shared the stage with a variety of regional musicians including vocalist Machan Taylor, with whom she studied. In addition, Erica has extended her creativity into the realm of visual arts, showing her work in both the Garrison Art Center and the Beacon Artist's Union, among others. Tonight she will be playing with Peter Enriquez and Ben Patsalos. | ||

Jake LaBotz's old-timey blues and rootsy originals are influenced by the pre-war era blues guys still living in Chicago when he was a kid: David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Homesick James, Maxwell Street Jimmy Davis. Jake has opened for Ray Charles, Etta James, Dr. John, Buddy Guy, Jr. Wells, Taj Mahal, Buckwheat Zydeco, Tony Joe White, John Hammond and Mavis Staples whose band he has recorded with.
Later in his musical life, LaBotz was fortunate to have learned from and played with his great influence, "Honeyboy" Edwards.
Jake sometimes sings his songs and acts in film and television. He recently starred in the Stephen King/John Mellencamp/T-Bone Burnett stage musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, did a guest spot on HBO drama True Detective (as Conway Twitty), and had a supporting role in an action movie called Close Range.

Veteran musicians Joe Gil (trombone), Neil Alexander (organ and keyboards) and Jason Furman (drums) have put together a new group called the "Thunderhead Organ Trio". The group is taking the concept of the organ trio in a new and different direction, drawing on many different influences and styles.
The group explores the grittier, rockier side of the genre referencing groups like the original Tony Williams Lifetime and mines the jazz standard repertoire for obscure gems and deep cuts. The group will be playing original tunes, jazz standards, lost classics and rare gems. | ||

"The Black Dirt Band" takes it's name from the fertile farming region in Orange County, New York. Known for it's fiery renditions of blues classics, this band has been turning heads in the Hudson Valley for years. The Black Dirt Band doesn't solely focus on the blues as other genre's find their way into a performance on any given night. The band features several guitarists who rotate through the band on different dates to keep the sounds fresh. Harmonica is also featured throughout. THE BOOKENDS BAND has been performing since the late '70s when friends would crowd a local New Rochelle bar to listen to Chris and Joe, two "Bookends" performing all the acoustic Rock songs they, and the crowds, loved. Soon the early cover tunes and originals were adapted for the instrumentation of the larger band. Bookends performs Classic and Acoustic Rock from The Beatles, Cat Stevens, Creedence Clearwater, Dylan, The Eagles, Van Morrison, Springsteen, Hendrix and so much more.
