Jay Collins & The Kings County Band
Funk, Blues, and Jazz
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
"In an era where most have learned to play music in a school, Mr. Collins is one of those increasingly rare musicians who learned to play, on the bandstand."

Together with his Kings County Band, Jay Collins uses the sounds of Memphis Soul, New Orleans Funk, Delta Blues, and classic Rock and Roll to make an original, funky stew, with some horn sprinkled on the top!

Jay's saxophone, flute, and horn-section arrangements have supported the sounds of Gregg Allman, Allman Brothers Band, Levon Helm (of The Band), Donald Fagen’s Dukes of September (w/ Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs), James Hunter, Ray LaMontagne, Latin percussionist Bobby Sanabria, and jazz greats, composer Andrew Hill, French pianist Jacky Terrasson, guitarist Ed Cherry, and legendary bassist LeRoy Vinnegar, among others.

After years of “moon-lighting” as a singer-songwriter, the secret is out - Jay Collins’ 'granite pipes’, gritty vocal style, and blues-influenced song-writing, are winning admirers everywhere!

The Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio
Americana, Jazz, and Blues
Empire State Railway Museum
70 Lower High State
Phoenicia, NY   See Map
The music of Heather Pierson is immune to genrefication. In one three month span she was lauded in the press as a neoclassical pianist & billed as leader of a jazz quartet, but on Sonic Bids you’ll find her under “Solo” “Folk” and “Acoustic”. The Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio formed in 2014, & they released their first album (Heather’s ninth) this May. The title cut is the number two single on the June Folk DJ Chart (the most recent month tallied) while “Still She Will Fly” claimed number 8 on the CD chart.

“Heather is like two great acts in one, sliding from sweet acoustic Appalachian old-timey vibe with Patty Griffinesque lyrics to brassy New Orleans blues piano with a bone thrown to Bessie Smith.” – Lone Star Music Magazine.

The concert will be held inside the intimate acoustically exquisite old Phoenicia Railway Station with seating for 50 only. Tickets are $15 or $13 with RSVP to flyingcatmusic@gmail.com. or call 845-688-9453

The SUNDOWN Band has been performing their brand of Southern Rock since 1976. Every time the band's been reviewed, the response is the same: "You will be hard pressed to find another band that performs with the talent, passion, and intensity that these guys bring to the stage every night." (WPDH 101.5 FM).

SUNDOWN's played all the legendary Westchester clubs like the Fore 'n Aft, Bottom's Up and The Beachmont, as well as NYC clubs like Lone Star Cafe. Many of the band's life-long fans now bring their teenage kids to experience the band's classic style; unique renditions of Southern Rock classics from bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, Molly Hatchet & more. The highlight of their shows are the duel guitar talents of Ronnie Pauls and Steve Mitchell, which leaves audiences in awe. We can't wait.

The new material has been described as a genre-busting organic mash up of Bach, clave, klezmer, and the Jazz Messengers.

This leading-edge quartet thrives on surprises spawned from collective improvisation and projects a vast array of tonal colors, explosive dynamics, rhythmic and harmonic shape-shifts and rich emotions.

Described by critics as a charismatic and rhythmically propulsive drummer with melodic sensibility, Allison has been named “Rising Star Drummer” and “Top 20 Jazz Drummers” in Downbeat Magazine’s acclaimed Critics Poll.

The Bianca Muniz Band is a collective collaboration of four "independently brilliant musicians coming together to create sensitive and textural acoustic music in a non-traditional format." The band features leader/vocalist/pianist/composer, Bianca Muniz, her longtime musical counterpart and sister, vocalist Jacqueline Muniz, Long Island Native guitarist and vocalist Kieran McAuliffe, and Brooklyn native drummer, percussionist and vocalist, Liam Zahm.

Bianca says her music is independent of genre, and ranges from the most sensitive Indie ballad to textural R&B to "creepy" Rock, all seamlessly infused with a masterful use of lyricism and poetry. This up-and-coming band offers a touching musical and emotional experience that is not to be missed!

An accomplished pianist and composer, one of Haugland’s compositions, “Lift,” won a DownBeat award for “Best Original Song.” In April 2012, Haugland released his debut album "Point of No Return" featuring NYC alto saxophonist Dick Oatts and bassist Jay Anderson. His album has received national radio airplay and has been ranked on the jazz charts by jazzweek.com for the past year. Haugland has also played in professional and academic settings with many prominent jazz artists.

"A Million Dreams, pianist Ben Haugland's second date as a leader, has an element of a propulsive, flexible, sensitive rhythm section comprised of Haugland, bassist Jay Anderson and drummer Chris Smith. Haugland, tenor saxophonist Stephen Jones, and trumpeter Scott Wendholt are capable soloists with stimulating things to say and ample technique. These guys play the leader's genuinely original compositions—and the rest of the material—with absolute conviction." - AllAboutJazz

Aptly named, this new CD catches the fire and showcases the sun in a variety of musical styles indicative of her background. "She is one of those wonderful spirits; she's got her arms around you. You can feel that." - Levon Helm (1940-2012)

"It's a rare thing to share the stage with great talent like that young lady." - B.B. King (1925-2015)

The root of the Alexis P. Suter Band's sound is Suter's deep, powerful, commanding, and soulful voice, artfully blending the lines between gospel and blues. Suter is the daughter of a singer, Carrie Suter, backing vocalist with Harry Belafonte and Mahalia Jackson and cites the late classic R&B singer, Ruth Brown, as a primary influence.

The Alexis P. Suter Band has been blazing trails to clubs and festivals throughout North America, and proudly features backup singer Vicki Bell and drummer Ray Grappone, the principal owners and sound engineers at Hipbone Records, as well as guitarist Jimmy Bennett and bassist Peter Bennett. They have made a tour of Italy and recorded two albums for Brooklyn-based record label, Hipbone Records.

For more than 30 years, members of The Atlanta Rhythm Section have entertained audiences all over the world with their hits, including So Into You, Imaginary Lover and Spooky. The members of Atlanta Rhythm Section originally came together as a session band at Studio One, an Atlanta area studio, recording artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Al Kooper, Dickey Betts and .38 Special. The band put out 15 albums and were paired with contemporaries Lynyrd Skynyrd as the successors to the Allman Brothers – carrying the mantle of “Southern Rock” in the late '70s; but performing songs that were more musically diverse and having hits that had a softer, pop flavor, they had a sound all their own.
