Soñando!
Latin
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
The hot Latin sounds of Soñando have earned them the reputation as the Hudson Valley's premier Latin band. This spicy blend of music and musicians have performed in clubs, at private funtions, community festivals, benefit concerts, on radio and television, as well as the Puerto Rico Day Parade in NYC, but the band is at home wherever a dance floor can be cleared. Fueled by a fiery rhythm section and high-octane horns, Soñando plays a wide variety of latin styles from Plena and Son to Salsa and Merengue!

"The name of the band is Spanish for "dreaming" but when the hordes come out for Soñando, they don't sleepwalk-they dance. And we're not talking a few perfunctory head-bobs or butt-wiggles, they dance until they go up in flames like, Tula's unquenchable bedroom in the Cuban lyrics above." -Woodstock Times

More recently, he paired with singer-songwriter Leo Glaser of New Paltz to form "The Golden Eggheads," a duo with a more contemporary folk sound. For the past year he has been performing in and around Ulster County with singer and guitarist Blair Shepard of Stone Ridge, in the Blair Rich Project, which takes a deep dive into the work of John Prine, a prominent and enduring figure from the Chicago folk music scene of the 1960s and '70s. Topics of Newman's songs range from the power of love to the wonder of nature to the hazards of coal mining.

12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Riiza is a Blues/Rock band made up of four incredibly talented teens. Three of the band members met as students at the School of Rock in Bedford, NY. They are all very passionate about music, and they love to play covers, write originals, and put their own bluesy spin on songs both old and new. They site Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Soundgarden as influences.

Riiza is: Ari Perakis (16 -- lead vocals and backing guitar), Jack Sullivan (16 -- bass and backing vocals) Justin Giacchetto (14 -- lead guitar) and special guest Jakob Rush (18 -- drums).

We first met these young musicians at our 12 Grapes Kids Open Mic and were so impressed, we invited them to open tonight for Guns N' Hoses. You will be equally impressed, we have no doubt.

Named "Best Tribute Band of 2014" by the VILLAGE VOICE! And we quote: "On and off stage, the Hoses have become true experts on what it takes to perform as Guns N’ Roses." "...on a level GNR would be proud (and jealous) of."

They met Slash in LA at one of their rehearsals, and their rendition of "Sweet Child of Mine" stopped him in his tracks. His Twitter message read, "Just met an all-girl band called Guns N' Hoses... Cool chicks!...They sound pretty tight, I have to say."

This all-female Guns N' Roses tribute band from Brooklyn has been performing at NYC's Bowery Ballroom & Rockwood, The Stone Pony (Asbury Park) and other prestigious clubs. The band includes Erin Marsz (Axl Hose), Charlene Kaye (Gash), Julia Pederson (Muff McKagan), Emmy Wildwood (Lizzy Stradlin) and Gina Ilasi (Stephanie Adler).

Tonight The Falcon honors two long running blues jams at the heart of the Hudson Valley's musical community. At these late night sessions, veterans shared ideas with the rookies who cut their teeth and honed their chops, while everyone got their groove on.

The Downtown was a smoky bar in a rough part of Middletown, NY. That didn't keep blues fans from packing the place on Thursday nights to hear the area's finest - Bill Perry, Slam Allen, Murali Coryell - light up the stage. When the Downtown closed its doors for good, Mike and Gosia Quick opened The Corner Stage, allowing the Thursday night blues jam tradition to continue for five years.

Directed by Melodie Wolford, this adaptation of the classic Wizard of Oz will be starring Gabrielle Sansone as Dorothy and a cast of talented actors from Westchester and surrounding communities. This live performance, based on the Turner Entertainment Company’s 1939 film starring Judy Garland, will be showcasing the Royal Shakespeare’s Wizard of OZ script adapted by John Kane; music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburgh.

L. Frank Baum, the writer of The Wonderful Wizard of OZ, attended school at the Military Academy in Peekskill as a youth so much of his inspiration came from the time he spent here in the Hudson Valley. Some of the infamous Yellow Bricks still remain in Peekskill to this day!

Performances will be held on January 16, 17th and 18th and can be purchased through the box office, over the phone (914-739-0039 x2) or visit http://paramounthudsonvalley.com/events/event/the-wizard-of-oz. Student, senior and group sales are available through the Box Office.

Marlboro, NY   See Map
Drummer Mike Clark, "Tony Williams of funk", is known around the world as a timeless innovator for his work with Herbie Hancock in his seminal Headhunters band. But as a composer, producer, and bandleader--fronting the smoking jam band in the early Prescription Renewal, the renowned jazz quartet Indigo Blue and founding the Wolff Clark Expedition with pianist Michael Wolff.

Grammy-nominated guitarist, composer and arranger and Julliard graduate, Tom Guarna's natural ability to play and compose with phrasing reminiscent of his idols, combined with a relentless drive to refine and invent a unique guitar style has made him a desired commodity in the music industry.

NYC organist/pianist Brian Charette has established himself as a leading voice in modern jazz. Grammy-nominated Charette was just named the winner of the 2014 Downbeat Critics’ Poll in the "Rising Star: Organ" category.
