Saturday 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm | Ed Palermo's Big Band, featuring Napoleon Murphy Brock | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
Ed Palermo is not a “business as usual” musician. After all, when most people think of “big bands” they think of Duke and Dorsey. But go to see Ed Palermo’s Big Band and you might hear Zappa, Hendrix, the blues of Paul Butterfield & Mike Bloomfield or one of Ed’s own compositions.Gil Evans wonderfully articulated Palermo’s unusual approach to traditional instrumentation: “I first heard Ed Palermo’s music in a small club in the SoHo section of Manhattan. He was using the instrumentation of a traditional big band yet his arrangements & songs were anything but that. When I thought the music was going a certain direction, it would suddenly turn a corner...” American singer, saxophonist & flute player, Napoleon Murphy Brock, is best known for his work with Frank Zappa in the 1970s, including the albums One Size Fits All, Roxy & Elsewhere, & Bongo Fury. His own most memorable vocal accomplishments are illustrated on the songs "Village of the Sun" & "Florentine Pogen.".

Saturday 7:30 pm | Music For Humanity Free Performance Night with Patrick Daley, John Sheehan, John Desibia & Peter Cotsis Acoustic. Christmas Guitar Instrumentals | Noble Coffee Roasters 3020 New York 207 Campbell Hall, NY See Map |
I am honored to be invited by Barry Adelman, co-founder of MFH, to perform a half hour set in their monthly showcase. I'll do guitar instrumental Christmas music, mostly my own arrangements. Barry always has a great lineup for these shows, and I'm happy to see fingerstyle wizard John Sheehan on the bill! Fingerstyle is playing with 3 or 4 fingers rather than a guitar pick, and that 's my favorite style as well. Sometimes it sounds like 2 guitars when it's just solo. I haven't heard J.Desibia /P.Cotsis yet, but again, Barry selects enjoyable performers, so I look forward to it. Music for Humanity is a non-profit organization that provides music education scholarships to students in need. There is no charge for the performance night, but if you can donate a few dollars toward the scholarships, it is appreciated. This will be a very musical and fun evening, and we hope to see you there! patrickpdaley@yahoo.com Noble Coffee Roasters Web Page

If you grew up in the '60's & '70's -- or even if you didn't -- you are probably a fan of Simon & Garfunkel. We most certainly are. Jeb and Jock Guthrie, aka The Guthrie Brothers, have been playing and singing together since they were young kids. Performing in a number of garage bands and bar bands, they eventually came to cherish their "natural sibling vocal blend." "We knew the first time we played a Simon and Garfunkel song that we had a natural and almost spiritual connection to it. Our voices blended effortlessly into that S&G signature sound, and the overwhelming audience reaction to our performance confirmed our feelings. Since that first performance, we have worked to perfect our tribute to these two amazing artists." The Guthrie Brothers' authentic replication of the S&G songs we all know and love will blow you away. Don't miss this special performance! **$10 Entertainment Fee or $5 with dinner entree.* See their S&G Tribute on youtube
