BEST OF HUDSON VALLEY- 2013 READER'S PICK- BEST BRUNCH!
with Soñando
Latin to the Max!
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
The hot Latin sounds of Soñando have earned them the reputation as the Hudson Valley's premier Latin band. This spicy blend of music and musicians have performed in clubs, at private functions, community festivals, benefit concerts, on radio and television, as well as the Puerto Rico Day Parade in NYC, but the band is at home wherever a dance floor can be cleared. Fueled by a fiery rhythm section and high-octane horns, Soñando plays a wide variety of Latin styles from Plena and Son to Salsa and Merengue!

"The name of the band is Spanish for "dreaming" but when the hordes come out for Soñando, they don't sleepwalk-they dance. And we're not talking a few perfunctory head-bobs or butt-wiggles, they dance until they go up in flames like, Tula's unquenchable bedroom in the Cuban lyrics above." -Woodstock Times

“This is electric blues with an eclectic and somewhat demented spin. The group’s sense of humor is as much to be appreciated as their hard-rocking, guitar-heavy sound. They sound pretty damn good on the CD, a tight power trio that can get into a driving groove and stay there.” Philip Farber,Kingston Freeman

“The Outpatients are cool musical dudes. The guys make riffin’, rockin,’ fun music that sounds like a cross between Chuck Berry and a funkier version of those early Beatles, or least the Dave Clark Five.” Stephen Israel, The Times Herald Record

The Police Files are an authentic recreation of the sound and energy of The Police; the most musically influential and commercially successful Rock band of the 1980's. Jim Keneally on bass, Ira Siegel on guitar, and Mike Marble on drums have applied their notable talents to what at first was an enjoyable experiment but has become an outright homage to The Police. Their musicianship has taken them to national and international stages... the orchestra pits of Broadway shows and recording studios with some of the industry's most well-known artists. For this project they have harnessed the particular skill sets needed to recapture those of Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland, whose last tour a few years ago grossed over $300 million in ticket sales alone. Come experience The Police Files and you'll remember why you, and millions of others, loved that unique, energetic, thoughtful sound of The Police.

Join us for an intimate house concert with folksinger, Josh Joffen. He is a singer-songwriter whose music weaves traditional and modern folk, jazz & pop influences into an artistic tapestry filled with perception and wit. "Joffen has a touch. He writes from many angles and weaves his visions with folk structures which at times belie the fact that they were written in today's world and not that of the past. It doesn't hurt that he has a pleasing voice, either. No scratchy old vinyl texture here." Opening the show are the sensational duo, The Levins, who perform uplifting music in harmony dedicated to making the world a happier place. Admission is $20 per person ($15 if you are a Borderline or Pinewoods member), and we ask that you bring a cold potluck dessert dish to share with 4 other people. Fleurine has a soft and haunting voice that is well suited to this material."- ALL MUSIC GUIDE "The Dutch born, Portugal-reared polyglot sounds as fresh and guileless as she did on her slightly more mainstream 1995 debut. Tom Polizzi is a 15 year old jazz guitar player from Simsbury, CT. He started playing guitar at the age of 9, drawing his roots from the blues, then finding his love of jazz at the age of 13. He studies at the prestigious Greater Hartford of the Arts, where he is now a sophomore and prominent jazz guitar major.

It was through the Academy that Tom met his bandmates, bassist/pianist Andre Bernier, and drummer Jacob Patrone. Together, the group explores a combination sound of jazz and fusion, drawing influence from artists like Roy Hargrove, Snarky Puppy, Bad Plus, Pat Metheny, John Scofield, and Thelonious Monk, to name a few.
