Pawling, NY   See Map
"There's freedom in knowing that you don't have to know it all," says Mary Gauthier, "which is why to me, a song should end with a question, not an answer." It might seem that after six groundbreaking albums of original songs, more than a dozen years of recording and touring around the world, a harvest of music industry awards, and covers of her songs by a roster of great artists – that Mary Gauthier ("go-SHAY") should have a handle on some of the big answers. Yet with each new album, with each new cycle of songs that illuminate her soul, with each old and new set of characters and life changes she introduces, Mary is always ending up with more questions. It is said that the master songwriters – the "truth tellers," as Mary refers to them – always put a piece of themselves into every song and first shined light on the truth and lies of her world before she began to put pen to paper herself. It's up to the listener to imagine what is real and what is a dream.

At age 15, Willy Amrod's band, Brand X, was one of the first signings by Seymour Stein to Sire Records. Other Seymour Stein signings include the B52's, The Talking Heads, The Pretenders and Madonna. Willy played bass for Steve Ferguson (NRBQ's original guitarist) and with Rick Danko, and he opened many shows throughout the Northeast for Levon Helm, The J Giles Band, Roomful of Blues, The Band and NRBQ. His best known album, the timeless Children Of The Earth, features The JB Horns. Willy Amrod's sound has been compared to everything from Johnny Cash to James Brown; and country blues to funky soul.

Join us stage-side for another Sunday Singer/Songwriter Showcase, featuring two amazing female vocalists.

Addie Brownlee's voice has been compared to Dusty Springfield. It's Americana, Alt/Country, Singer/Songwriter. "If Brownlee's voice is of the dust, the earth, then her lyrics are a hard rain. Eroding the surface of things, exposing feelings that aren't easily expressed or classified, but so familiar..." Addie notes Dolly Parton as her biggest influence, and recently did a tribute at NYC's The Living Room. Addie was joined onstage by Martha Wainwright. Her song, "Sea Legs" off her new EP, "East of Leaving" also features a cameo by Ms Wainwright.

Tara Dougherty is a singer/songwriter who combines soulful vocals with a Folk flavor. Tara's been playing on the NYC circuit for years, exciting audiences with her poetic lyrics. Even her songs of heartbreak are beautiful. "When we fall, if we break, it's the way we're made and the chance we take."

Two-time Kerrville New Folk Finalists, The YaYas are an engaging and uplifting nationally touring trio hailing from New York's Hudson Valley region. Through subtle yet skillful arrangements, the powerful and expressive voice of Catherine Miles, Jay Mafale's percussive guitar, and Paul Silverman's melodic piano blend to create their distinctive sound. :|: Most familiar to folk audiences as a founding member of the female trio, Red Molly, Carolann Solebello returned to solo performance after six years with the band. She has three solo CDs and three full-length Red Molly CDs to her credit, including James, which peaked at #4 on the Americana chart, and Love And Other Tragedies, which spent ten weeks in the Americana Top 15. Carolann's song "Summertime" was #1 on the Folk DJ chart in July 2008. :|: Why Karyn Oliver would want to leave a small town called Boring is subject to speculation, but Maryland's loss is the New York area folk scene's gain.
