Jim Paradis has been playing in bands since he picked up his first bass guitar when he was 13. He's no stranger to all types of music and has played in bands of all styles from a progressive rock garage band to a down and dirty touring Rock and Roll band. Even in those early days he was often involved in original music but, in 1993, after a haitus from music, he got reacquainted with his muse by recording a song he had written for his family called "Juniper Knoll". "It was enough of a rush to want to keep on doing it" he says.
Since then Jim has written hundreds of songs, recorded 3 CD's with October Moon, 2 solo Cds, "You Are Here", an inspirational look at life, and, "Almost Home", a journey through several significant life changes and the ups and downs that inevitably accompany those changes. Not interested in waiting that long again between CD's, Jim is currently in the studio working on his next CD, "Not Finished Yet" due for a late Spring 2011 release. |

Fred Smith, former musical director for the Harlem Blues & Jazz Band, is taking us for a trip through the history of jazz. For the second of this three-part series, Fred, and his accomplished group of musicians, will bring you through the modern jazz, broadway & Bee-Bop era.
Fred Smith is the trumpeter of choice for swing bands including Panama Francis Orchestra, George Kelly's Jazz Sultans, and Al Cobb's Big Band. He has also played with Dr. Lonnie Smith, Bross Townsend, Lou Donaldson, Houston Person & Etta Jones, Alvin Queen Quintet, Honi Coles & the Copacetics, Hugh Masekela, Larry Willis, Bernard Purdie, Lloyd Price Orchestra, and played in bands backing singers Ruth Brown, Carrie Smith, Della Griffen, Annette St. John, as well as performing in many night clubs during Harlem, Brooklyn, Queens and Greenwich Village Hey Day!

 What an incredible line-up! Comprised of some of the funkiest (and most talented) musicians in the Hudson Valley, The Fuzzy Flow is the mastermind of New York-based saxophonist Shane Kirsch. TFF "delivers mass seedlings of groove that will fall from the sky and plant themselves into the depths of your soul". Quite a promise.
Tonight, The Fuzzy Flow celebrates the release of their new CD, 'Lion in the Cut, currently available on itunes.
Featuring Shane Kirsch on sax/flute/keys/vox, Michael Bram (Jason Mraz) on drums, Geoff Hartwell (Sonny Landreth, Yonrico Scott, Gregg Allman and more) on guitar, Chris Vitarello (Jimmy McGriff, Bruce Katz and others) on guitar, Rich Kelly on bass, Jeremy Baum on keys, Vinny Nobile (Pilfers, Bim Skala Bim) on trombone and other special guests. The band performs all original Jazz-infused Funk along with a few choice covers. We dare you not to dance.

It's that time of the month again, for the ever so popular Open Mic Night at Aroma Thyme Bistro. All are welcome to open mic nights. This has become a monthly tradition at Aroma Thyme for the past three years. We have seen some incredibly talented acts. We are constantly amazed from locals to people that travel up to an hour to perform. ...Of course we have our regulars, which we love. And there's always a new act of some sort to welcome each month.
The kitchen is open until midnight for everything from small bites to a full dinner. Plus the bar is well stocked with Small Batch Bourbon's, elegant Single Malt Scotch, almost 200 beers, over 250 wines and a trendy martini menu. |
