ROOMFUL OF BLUES
Blues
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Count Basie called Roomful Of Blues "the hottest band I've ever heard," and Downbeat rates the band "in a class by itself." Probably the largest working blues band in the world, Duke Robillard started the band in 1967 and crafted a trademark sound with lots of horns and a swinging, danceable style of blues and R&B spanning the years back to the '30s. Even though the band's lineup has changed over the years, they have always been one of the tightest, most joyful blues ensembles in the world.

Alice Leon is one of OD's most popular performers. As Lead of the great Rock foursome, The Alice Project, she's garnered a large fan base, and her music can be heard on movie and TV sound tracks. Her friend Sandy Zio is a fine performer in her own right (a member of the Mojo Mystics), and her mellow voicings blend beautifully with Alice's bright vocals. When they sing together, "The Chicks" can mix up their songlist with personally penned tunes, as well as favorite covers that they don't do in their own acts. We thank HVM for listing The Saloon Chicks' latest date at OD's ...and remember, there's never a cover charge!
