Saturday 10:30 pm | OD's Presents the Best Jump Blues Band Anywhere! with The Slippery Chickens Blues | O'Donoghue's of Nyack 66 Main St. Nyack, NY See Map |
They’re our only blues band... ‘cause they‘re so atypical
of the genre! OD’s has tried hiring Chicago style bands,
with “She done me wrong” lyrics and crying guitars, and,
although we like that kind of music as well, there’s just
something about the Chickens’ upbeat, stride sound
that makes all the others fall away. The booming voice and upright slap bass of front man Jerry Scaringe, and the slightly nutty, sliding tempo guitar of Mike Olivieri are reasons the Chickens’ jump style is so appealing. Add the rambunctious, bang-bang drumwork of Richie Narigian, and you have the hippest, happiest blues music this side of a New Orleans wedding! OD's thanks HVM for listing this Slippery Chickens appearance. As always, there's no cover charge! | ||

—Kenya Jones, ACED Magazine "His vocals have a soulful, warm easy edge , never forced and flowing over a song like “Water Girl” as if Van Morrison had come from a sharecroppers’ farm. " —Paul Kerr, americana-uk.com "It is such a privilege to have the opportunity to get to hear hardworking, asskicking artists like Mosley. The kind of artists that aren’t being force fed to mass consumers. The kind of artists that deserve the kind of audiences pre-fab products posing as musicians garner." —Robin Rothman-Editor, Go!
