An expatriate New Yorker, now living in Argentina, Richard Shindell's albums & shows have been revered by critics and fans alike. His formative experiences range from enrichment at Union Theological Seminary to life in a Zen Buddhist monastery; from playing for coins in Paris to a more recent tour with Joan Baez.Innovative, original and occasionally spiritual, Shindell’s songwriting is truly eclectic, ranging from lighthearted ballads & adulterous love songs to dirges & diatribes that skillfully skewer politics, prejudice, war and religion. Passionate and profound, his songs are often veritable novellas framed in haunting acoustic melodies, but he is also capable of writing tunes that are simply clever & amusing. The NY Times, Village Voice, Billboard, Dirty Linen and Sing Out gush with admiration for the range and power of his music. "Occasionally an artist makes even skeptics think, 'OK, maybe he is the best.' Richard Shindell achieved this..." - New York Times More info at the Towne Crier Cafe | ||
