| Every year, Saint John the Divine hosts a magnificent New Year's Eve Concert in their cathedral which is the largest cathedral in North America - and I mean, it's BIG! I sang at this concert several years ago and have been asked to come again this year. I'll be singing "Grace" with the organist accompanying me. It's pretty awesome to sing in a space like this one that was built especially for singers and when about 3500 people are in attendance! I'm not sure of the details yet, but will update them as I learn them. It's a free concert, but prepare to stand in line to get in if you want to be anywhere near the front. More later..... | ||

Our chef has planned a memorable feast starting with samplings of appetizers, followed by a multi-course meal, and capped off by unbelievably sumptuous desserts.PETER KARP (Contemporary Americana Blues/Roots): "Guys like PETER KARP, James Taylor and Bob Dylan embody Americana music..." - Mick Taylor, Rolling Stones "...an underground genius...like Jackson Browne and John Prine, with a healthy dose of blues too... Karp's a soulful storyteller, the man can write..." - Blues Revue Magazine LIPBONE REDDING has developed the uncanny ability to convincingly emulate the sounds of a trumpet or trombone with remarkable precision and artistry. Performing his own jazz, blues, jam and soul savvy songs with creative energy, he has the sly charm of the Southern bluesman and the cool wisdom of a New York folkie. MARC DOUGLAS BERARDO is a rising star on the national singer songwriter scene who, in 2006 alone, won several major song awards, including the Telluride Troubadour Contest. Monday 10:30 pm | OD's Presents with The Slippery Chickens Blues | O'Donoghue's of Nyack 66 Main St. Nyack, NY See Map |
They’re our only blues band... ‘cause they‘re so atypical
of the genre! OD’s has tried hiring Chicago style bands,
with “She done me wrong” lyrics and crying guitars, and,
although we like that kind of music as well, there’s just
something about the Chickens’ danceable, stride sound that makes all the others fall away. The booming voice and upright slap bass of front man Jerry Scaringe, and the slightly nutty, sliding tempo guitar of Mike Oliveri are reasons the SLIPPERY CHICKENS’ jump style is so appealing. It's the hippest, happiest blues music this side of a New Orleans wedding!... and the reason we've invited THE CHICKENS back for the fourth straight year as musical guests for OD's famous BLUES YEAR'S EVE CELEBRATION! OD's thanks HVM for listing the The Slippery Chickens' appearance at OD's. As always, there's no cover charge. | ||
