The Alex Smith Quartet is a soulful jazz group featuring originals and arrangements with a focus on music that grooves. Musicians include Alex Smith - Hammond Organ, Jeff Barone - Guitar, and Tony Jefferson - Drums.
Alex Smith (pianist, organist, composer, and arranger) is most widely known for his work accompanying Lady Gaga on her performance of the Star-Spangled for Super Bowl 50; as keyboardist and arranger for Lady Gaga's jazz quintet, and on the Grammy winning album with Tony Bennett "Cheek to Cheek". Multi-instrumentalist T.K. Blue, also known as Talib Kibwe, was born in New York City of a Trinidadian mother and Jamaican father. A musician of the highest caliber, T.K. Blue was Dr. Randy Weston's chief saxophonist/flutist, arranger, and musical director for over three decades. He also worked with vocal legend Jimmy Scott for close to 10 years until his passing.
T.K. Blue's artistry is found on over 85 recordings and he has performed with master musicians including Abdullah Ibrahim, Sam Rivers, Dr. Randy Weston, Jimmy Scott, Chico Hamilton, Archie Shepp, Chris McGreggor, Dizzy Gillespie, Pharoah Sanders, Idrees Sulieman, Benny Powell, Billy Harper, Dewey Redman, Alex Blake, Jamil Nasser, Idres Muhammad, Big Black, and Azzedin Weston, among others. T.K. Blue has released 12 CDs as leader and has performed at Carnegie Hall, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Iridium, Birdland and in numerous Jazz Festivals around the globe.
