Sunday 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm | Samantha Elin Singer-Songwriter, Americana, and Folk/Traditional | Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts Online and on the radio, NY See Map |
Samantha Elin tends to write songs about seekers and dreamers, people chasing memories and illusions. They’re often teetering between hope and despair, but their persistence wears on. These ordinary but somehow grand characters reside amidst a landscape of alternately catchy and contemplative indie folk, country, folk-pop, and bluesy rock.
A technical editor by trade, she started writing songs out of the blue one day. The music piled up—enough for two CDs, “Blue Plate Special” and “Late Bloomer,” with noted artists Hirth Martinez, John Cowsill, and her sometime co-writer Danny Faragher contributing vocals. The UK Songwriting Contest has given her two awards, citing her “playful mastery of imagery and language,” and she’s been featured in American Songwriter magazine. Photo By Kristin Conrad | ||
