Get ready for an unforgettable evening of classic 1960s hits as the Lake Mahopac Rotary Club proudly presents its 12th Annual Rock & Roll Spectacular! This year’s fundraising concert features three incredible acts:
The Happenings – featuring original lead singer Bob Miranda, best known for their #1 hit “See You In September” and other favorites like “I Got Rhythm,” “Go Away Little Girl,” and “Bye Bye Blackbird.” The Vogues – from Turtle Creek, PA to the top of the charts, The Vogues became one of the most recognizable groups of the 1960s with timeless classics including “You’re The One,” “Five O’Clock World,” “Turn Around, Look At Me,” and “My Special Angel.” Vinnie Medugno – a powerhouse performer and radio personality, Vinnie brings heart, soul, and vintage flair to every stage. Start Making Sense brings the music of Talking Heads, David Byrne, and more to thrilling life in a high-energy concert event—this time with horns blazing. Joined on stage for the entire show by The Ocean Avenue Stompers, a powerhouse four-piece horn section, the band delivers expanded, punchy arrangements of iconic Talking Heads favorites like “Burning Down the House,” “Once in a Lifetime,” “Psycho Killer,” “This Must Be the Place,” and “Life During Wartime,” alongside select David Byrne solo gems including “Everybody’s Coming to My House” and “Road to Nowhere.” This is two full sets of nonstop music, both featuring horns throughout, for a bold, brass-driven take on the catalog of Talking Heads and David Byrne. Ben Folds is widely regarded as one of the major music influencers of our generation.
The Emmy-nominated singer-songwriter-composer has created an enormous body of genre-bending music that includes pop albums with Ben Folds Five, multiple solo albums, and numerous collaborative records. His latest pop solo album was released in 2023 to rave reviews and sold-out performances. He released his first Christmas album in 2024 and last Fall recorded a LIVE album slated for release in 2025 with the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) at the Kennedy Center in DC where he served for eight years as the first Artistic Advisor to the NSO. In 2022, Ben launched a music education charitable initiative in his native state of North Carolina entitled “Keys For Kids,” which provides funds and keyboards to existing nonprofits. $1.00 of each ticket sold will be donated to Ben Folds’ Charity, Keys For Kids.
