Playfully serious, heartfelt and slightly bent middle class acoustic pop. The award-winning music of Barbara Borok (lead vocal) and songwriter Mike Borok (guitar/vocal) has been played on over 60 radio stations world-wide. They were grand prizewinners in the Music to Life song contest at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival and were featured in the Emerging Artists Showcase at the 2023 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Most recently, Mike won 1st place in the 2024 Music for Humanity Song Contest.
This is the release concert for their 5th album, Prehistoric (Volume 1). The Great American Soul Book delivers a journey through the decades of Motown, R&B and other iconic Soulful music that inspired generations. This is no oldies show. It is a high energy tribute that highlights the music that made us groove, made us move and filled dance floors and concert halls in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and beyond. The show is performed by the American Soul Band, featuring four lead choreographed male lead singers who will remind you of the Temptations with their smooth harmonies and moves, while covering many of the biggest hitmakers from the decades that followed. Called "one of New England's best songwriters" by The Boston Globe, Terry Kitchen has been performing on folk stages across the country since the 1990s, releasing a dozen albums filled with literate musical storytelling, supple guitar playing and distinctive, intimate vocals. His latest album We All Dream (with its title song reaching the top ten of the national Folk-DJ chart) offers a hard-won glimmer of hope just when we need it most. His songs have won the Mid-Atlantic and USA Song Contests and been runner-up in the John Lennon Song Contest, and have appeared in numerous films. In the 1980s he was the leader of the groundbreaking Boston band Loose Ties, whose experiences he recounts in his novel Next Big Thing, called "a great debut novel" by The San Francisco Book Review. The Poughkeepsie Jazz Project was created in 2012 with the goal of maintaining live jazz culture and community in Poughkeepsie, NY. Since its inception, The PKJP has presented a weekly jazz jam session accessible to all musicians and fans of live music. Over the past twelve years, the jam has been honored to host hundreds of musicians from the Tri-state area. This event is free to both participants and listeners. All with a passion for jazz are welcome.

Carlos Jimenez, is an extraordinary flute player and vocalist as well as composer and band leader of Jazz, Latin jazz and Salsa. His family moved to Villalba, Puerto Rico when he was 6 years old and it was there that his musical training began. Inspired by Mongo Santamaria, he pursued becoming a jazz flutist. He studied classical flute at the Music Conservatory of Westchester under Dave Fenucane and expanded into jazz, studying with master musicians Mario Rivera; Dave Valentin; Bobby Porcelli; Mitch Frohman; Vinnie Rickitelli; Rolando Briseno and Enrique Fernandez. He also studied harmony/voice with master pianist, Mike Longo, Alfredo Valdes Jr. and Hilton Ruiz.

PHILIP HARPER studied at Hartt School of Music with Jackie McLean. At 18, he moved to New York where he started working and recording extensively, with musicians such as "Little" Jimmy Scott, Jimmy McGriff, Betty Carter, Etta Jones, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Bill Cosby and Cedar Walton.
Philip made several recordings with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and then formed a group with his brother, drummer Winard Harper. The Harper Brothers toured the world and made several successful albums for Polygram/Verve. Philip Harper has made over 50 recordings, both as leader – his solo albums "Soulful Sin" and "The Thirteenth Moon" on Muse Records - and as a sideman. Philip has been living in both Europe and the USA, playing with the late Benny Golson & Cedar Walton, and has toured the globe as a member of the Mingus Big Band for more than 30 years.
