Professor Louie & The Crowmatix return to our outdoor stage with their signature blend of rock, rhythm & blues—music that continues to expand the boundaries of Americana. Performing since 2000 and averaging 150 shows a year, this Grammy-nominated Woodstock All-Star group brings songs from their new album Crowin’ Around, along with classics from Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, The Band.

The group originated as the studio band for producer and musician Aaron "Professor Louie" Hurwitz during his collaboration with The Band. Bassist Rick Danko nicknamed him “Professor Louie” in tribute to his contributions. Louie later co-produced The Band’s final three albums in the 1990s.

The Crowmatix have released 17 albums on Woodstock Records. Their latest, Crowin’ Around (2025), includes original songs, reimagined tracks by The Band and others, and a Moondog tribute. This Legacy Allstar Band delivers heartfelt music reflecting today’s world. Americana at its best!

Utopia Studios Bearsville

Woodstock, NY   See Map
Acclaimed record producer and songwriter John Simon will perform at Utopia Studios Bearsville for a limited audience in a recording studio setting.
John Simon is an important part of the Woodstock’s music history. He produced, arranged and played on many classic albums including The Band’s “Music from Big Pink”, “The Band”, and “The Last Waltz”, “Cheap Thrills” by Janis Joplin, “Bookends” by Simon & Garfunkel, and the debut albums of Leonard Cohen and Blood, Sweat & Tears, among others.
Recently, John and John Sebastian entertained a sold-out crowd at the Bearsville Theater. Afterwards people asked to hear some of his songs and this intimate concert was hastily scheduled.
From the Woodstock Times:
"John Simon is a songwriter whose lyrics and music are so witty, so charming and so wonderful. Singable, adroit, intelligent and very musical songs."
From magician, Penn Jillette:
“John’s songs have been with me since I was 16. They aren’t even his anymore, they are part of me."

Acoustic Blues Guitar Performance
with Bennett Harris Horowitz
Blues. Pre- WWII Traditional American Blues
The Alice Desmond Center For Community Enrichment
6 Albany Post Road
Newburgh, NY   See Map
Bennett Harris Horowitz presents a lively cross section of traditional American blues guitar music and songs. Bennett sings, fingerpicks, plays harmonica and slide guitar style on vintage 1930s instruments. Most of his pre-WWII repertoire is drawn from down south, including tunes popularized by Robert Johnson, Bessie Smith, Blind Blake, as well as a handful of original songs. In addition to an old Gibson, Bennett also employs a 1934 National Steel Resonator Guitar for slide tunes, using a brass slide for the authentic Mississippi delta drawl which that guitar imparts. Much of the fingerpicking is rendered in a ragtime-blues style which derives from the renowned guitarist Rev. Gary Davis; Bennett was tutored in this method by Ian Buchanan, a protégé of Davis. The tunes cover a range of human emotions: they are playful, poignant, humorous. Bennett’s performance is engaging and his technique is masterful.
