Erena Terakubo was born in Sapporo, Japan. She began playing the alto saxophone at the age of nine and had jazz clinics with musicians including Herbie Hancock when she was attending Sapporo Junior Jazz Orchedtra. Her first album, "North Bird" with Kenny Barron , Christian McBride , Lee Pearson , and Peter Bernstein reached no.1 on the Japanese jazz charts and was awarded Swing Journal's Gold Disc. In 2011 and 2013, Terakubo recorded her second and third CD, "New York Attitude" and "Burkina" with Kenny Barron, Ron Carter, Lee Pearson, Dominick Farinacci, Jimmy Cobb, and Lenny White. In 2015, she moved to New York and released her fourth disc, "A Time For Love" with David Hazeltine, David Williams, Lewis Nash. The album was released worldwide.

Friday, May 17 – Sunday, May 19 at the Ashokan Center A three-day camp where you can enjoy—and learn to participate in—Son Jarocho, the traditional folk music of Veracruz, Mexico. Son Jarocho master musicians, dancers and teachers from Mexico and the U.S. will teach and play and interact with Son Jarocho practitioners of every proficiency level.
