Marlboro, NY   See Map
Featuring musicians who have been in bands with Ian over the years and many special guests.

The evening will begin with a Quaker-style memorial service. Friends are invited to speak about Ian. This is followed by his posthumous induction into the NY State Blues Hall of Fame and a night of joyous music in remembrance!

Tonight will be the platform by which Host, Petey Hop and friends, celebrates the NY Blues Hall of Fame induction for the late Ian Bennett - honoring his life and his music.

English-born, but musically nurtured on our side of the Big Pond, Ian Bennett (a.k.a. The Mentor, The Tormentor, The Curmudgeon, The Guardian of REAL traditional Blues), has been singing and blowing sax and harp in the Hudson Valley for over 30 years. Since the late 1970s, he has been a force in bands such as Boswell, The Little Elliott Lloyd Blues Band, The Ulstafarians, and The Blue Rays.

Many have been the grateful recipients of his vast knowledge of traditional blues and jazz.

SlideAttack is a modern incarnation of the group led by the great J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding, co-led by two NY veteran trombonists, Alan Goidel and Howard Levy. SlideAttack plays fresh arrangements of jazz standards from the swing era to hard bop and beyond, by composers Kenny Dorham, J.J. Johnson, George Gershwin, Hank Mobley and others, along with original material.

"In so many ways, this music is so refreshing; excellent arrangements, interesting repertoire, all put together with the care and love that can only come from true dedication and appreciation for the kind of swinging jazz that one doesn't hear nearly enough nowadays. In the great tradition of the two-trombone groups of yesteryear, Mr. Levy and Mr. Goidel deserve our gratitude for keeping the tradition not only alive, but swinging!" - Loren Schoenberg, Artistic Director, The National Jazz Museum in Harlem

Marlboro, NY   See Map
https://mollyruth.com/

In Molly Ruth’s debut album, Full Moon Outlaw, 70’s rock and roll, Delta blues, and country ballads are thrown prostrate before Nature’s terrifying violence. Every song is a blood-sacrifice. Sometimes she howls to the animal kingdom, sometimes sermonizes in a spirit language, sometimes she is wailing a bitter, jealous country ballad that leaves your heart ragged and your soul purified, and living as a Full Moon Outlaw.

SPECIAL SHOW: Singer/songwriter SLOAN WAINWRIGHT, consistently demonstrates her easy command of a variety of American musical styles — pop, folk, jazz and blues — held together by the melodious tone of her rich contralto, with the end result being a unique and soulful hybrid. Her family tree (brother and folk-music luminary Loudon Wainwright, nephew Rufus Wainwright, nieces Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche) With a solid and impressive discography of 10 original CD releases to her credit. Sloan’s incredible gift is not only her unique songwriting ability but also her dramatically voiced rendition of original songs. “She’s folk influenced, but the real star here is her voice. MMB has had the honor of sharing stages with The Bruce Katz Band, Gregg Allman guitarist, Scott Sharrard and The Jamie McLean Band.

https://www.facebook.com/MenzaMadison/

Tracy Madison serves up soul-filled lead vocals, and has been described as a fusion of Janis Joplin, Susan Tedeschi and Bonnie Raitt. Mike Menza's slide guitar work is rich in tone and reminiscent of the Master, Mr. Duane Allman. Joe and Mike meld as father and son, delivering harmonic leads on vintage gear - no pedals.

The newest members of the MMB family, Tim Chanowitz and Rich Sarles, round out this old-school sound with a power house rhythm section. Be transported back to the roots of American music - elevated and transformed by MMB's own style. Straight-up raw, electrifying blues and rock 'n roll that will take you for a ride!
