Rockland Center for the Arts presents Jonathan Edwards in an intimate concert setting. Warm as summer sunshine, real as the truth, intimate as a long overdue visit between old friends, such is a Jonathan Edwards concert. His highly respected repertoire includes “Honky Tonk Stardust Cowboy,” “Sometimes,” “One Day Closer,” “Don’t Cry Blue,” “Emma,” “Everybody Knows Her,” “Athens County,” & “Shanty.” And then, of course, there’s the anthemic “Sunshine (Go Away Today),” that fierce proclamation of protest & independence that resonated with thousands of frustrated & angry young men and women when it was first released in 1971. Guitar and piano, along with unique harmonies & tightly blended unison vocals, reflect the couple’s own compatible musical and personal relationship. They closed 2018 with an original San Francisco musical theater/EuroCircus production based on their 2013 release, "My Friend Hafiz" and they're looking forward to where this new collection will lead them. ToasterBasket is inclusive, cohesive, and improvisational. It is the raw and husky verses of songstress Jezebel Jeffrey, and the syncopated tones of keyboardist Patrick Stokes that started the story of this New York group. The pair began writing music together and at the end of 2017 they added Josh Towers on Bass, Steven Repka on Guitar and most recently Terry Hampton keeping everyone tight on drums. By birth a Tennessean, David Massengill “emigrated” to the Greenwich Village folk scene in the mid-70’s, walking the same streets and playing the same storied coffee houses as Dylan and Van Ronk. His songs have been covered and recorded by Joan Baez, The Roches, Lucy Kaplansky, Tom Russell, Nanci Griffith and his mentor, Dave Van Ronk, who said David “took the dull out of dulcimer!” Notes Music Boulevard, “That David made the lap dulcimer his instrument of choice tells us a lot about the soft-spoken native of eastern Tennessee.”

Jo Williamson's musical oeuvre is a journey of the heart. She shares with us the depth and intensity of a compelling inner world. Her songs are brilliantly crafted and are eloquently delivered with her exquisite voice. In 2018 she released her fifth recording of music, "Kidz Talk", a collection of original songs for kids of all ages. Her most popular track, "Sing a Little Song", is both a rousing affirmation and a simple plan for living.

Many years of close friendship had created a deep trust between the players, which in turn led to exhilarating expressive freedom. The Warwick Valley Chorale will perform two Spring 2019 concerts in May. This season’s repertoire, directed by Stanley Curtis and accompanied by Gail Johnson, literally represents 1,000 years of song. The Warwick Chorale will join the composer’s own choruses to sing the world premiere of this work at Carnegie Hall on June 10, 2019.

Giovanni Pergolesi’s 18th century Magnificat will also be performed along with the Cambridge Songs in both local concerts in May (and at the Carnegie Hall performance). The local performances will also include a wide selection of 20th century classics from the American songbook, such as “Who Could Ask for Anything More,” “Our Love is Here to Stay” and “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off,” as well as Broadway tunes including “Bring Him Home,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” and “Luck Be a Lady Tonight.”

Poet Gold's POELODIES, Special Guest: Dana BoltonThe FALCON & The FALCON UNDERGROUND

Marlboro, NY   See Map
Poet Gold assembles a fresh new line-up of brilliant spoken word and musical artists every fourth Wednesday. The Falcon's highly encouraged DONATION policy will support these wonderful living artists.

Twenty three year old Dana Bolton has found herself tapping into different forms of ink, "writing out truths in the shape of water". Her passion began with pen and paper. When asked how she has evolved so far as a writer, her answer is, heartbreak, a bit of reminiscence, and fire in her veins. "I believe there is a growth, and strength in vulnerability. Challenging yourself brings out a side that you never thought you'd discover and fall in love with."

Host Poet Gold’s poetry balances the written word with performance, delivering Spoken Word Poetry that is both transformative and entertaining. She is the recipient of the 2016 Dutchess County Executive’s “Artivist” award and appointed the 2017 and 2018 NYS Dutchess County Poet Laureate.

Poet Gold is an activist of the heart.

“He writes songs that are melodic, hooky and emotionally true, and he sings and plays them with an honesty and force that still finds room for humor without venom.” - All Music Guide

"He's as close as a modern-day Buddy Holly as you can get, with his spare, melodic sound instantly evoking the Crickets, and he writes standards just as good as the Man himself."
