Since emigrating from his native Scotland in 2014 Lorkin O'Reilly has been making a name for himself throughout the Northeast. His unique transatlantic approach blends Celtic inspired open tunings with direct and personal lyrics. His writing reflects not only his own reality, but a reality faced by most of us; the purgatory between childhood and adulthood, between new home and old home and finally the overarching struggle of finding a new identity.

http://thechrisbarron.com

The zeitgeist is a moving target, and Chris Barron has always been a crack shot. The New York songwriter is no longer the debutant who set out on the circuit’s sharp end in 1988 with $100, a battered acoustic and a headful of the alt-rock anthems that would elevate Spin Doctors to global stardom.

He’s compelled to write the music that chronicles the here-and-now. As far back as he can remember, he’s had a hunger driving him onward, towards something just out of reach. It propelled him to Angels and One-Armed Jugglers (2017), the culmination of a lifetime’s craft and a record both contemporary and classic.

A powerful story teller, at once hilarious and thought provoking, Chris sets up his songs with anecdotes from a life on the road, from opening for and encountering legends like the Rolling Stones to Polar expeditions.

With dynamic vocals and sharp social commentary, Chavez’s songs take audiences on a journey through the Americas, expertly blending sounds with tension and grace. “Most striking is Chavez’s ease as she moves between social and love songs, between North American and Latin genres, and even between languages: When she passes mid-song from English to Spanish and back, it’s the most natural thing in the world.“ The Boston Globe “Gina Chavez's voice stops you in your tracks the first time you hear it.” -- NPR

Andy & Judy are a Boston area folk duo who perform regularly throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Great Lakes regions. Their original, lyric driven songs feature close harmonies blending Judy's evocative alto and Andy's rich baritone. Beginning instrumentally with a classic folk guitar base, they have deepened their sound through the addition of mandolin, banjo, piano, harmonica, ukulele, and percussion. Even though their songwriting style has its roots firmly planted in traditional and folk music, the influences of country, gospel, blues, and bluegrass can be heard in their songs. They carefully craft and perform each song so that the listener experiences all of the emotions woven into their music. They have released 5 CDs of original music with the latest two reaching the Folk DJ charts - This Old Town reached #11 in July 2017 and Reflections reached #9 in November 2018. FolkWorld Europe praised the duo saying “their songs are beautifully crafted and performed.”

ToasterBasket is inclusive, cohesive, and improvisational. The Slambovian Circus of Dreams - collectively - are pioneers of the Americana genre, equal parts Washington Irving and Woodstock, tapping styles ranging from dusty Americana ballads to huge Pink Floydesque cinematic anthems. They've been called “the hillbilly Pink Floyd,” particularly if you throw in elements of Incredible String Band, Neil Young, The Band, Dylan, Bowie and Syd Barrett.

The band runs its own label, with four critically acclaimed studio albums: A Good Thief Tips His Hat (1999), Flapjacks From The Sky (2003), The Great Unravel (2008), and The Grand Slambovians (2010).

A Box of Everything (2014) released through Sony Red as the band’s ‘greatest hits you’ve never heard". Their next studio album, ‘A Very Unusual Head’ will feature guests including guitarist Gary Lucas and Willie Nile, among others.

New MSL Album! Check it out! "Fated/Faded"

Vocalist and songwriter, with a baby blue guitar and a Marlboro bass, Mimi performs solo dream pop as an electronic multi-instrumentalist, and more recently, in a power-punk-dream-rock collaboration with the Beacon NY punk trio, Knock Yourself Out (KYO). MSL (pronounced missile) is the latest incarnation of Mimi Sun Longo, whose projects have included MimiSun ('08), Higher Animals('11), We Got Whales('15), and now, MSL + KYO, with no end in sight for our expectations of MSL.

MSL achieves the grind of Janis Joplin and subtlety of Angel Olsen. Josh Stark's loud lead riffs through layers of delay and distortion, push and pull in a winking attempt to tear at the impenetrable KYO rhythm section that is Harrison Cannon and Mike Rasimas.

Unfailingly sturdy and open-hearted songs, rock-energized bluegrass propulsion with a soulful, humble overtone.

In The Kitchen got their start in the steamy kitchen of a second story apartment in Rosendale NY. It was a warm midsummer evening and the boys started plucking sweet sounds as chicken, potatoes and green beans sizzled in the oven.

You might say, that meal defined the band's sound - simple and satisfying. In The Kitchen plays a mix of Americana music, with hints of bluegrass, country, ad soul, peppering their songwriting.Their live sets move through a range of emotions, with plenty of danceable, driving tunes, balanced with slow grooves, and earnest lyrics and singing.

Like any fine Upstate band, their latest album, Almost Almost There, was recorded in a log cabin nestled in the Catskill Mountains.

New Paltz-based smart-pop legends The Sweet Clementines perform a home town show at Unison Arts, joined by SubFamily Records labelmates Hiding Behind Sound.

Eccentric original rock, sweet and weird, overstuffed with melody and melancholy, vibraphones and violins, from New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley. “Exhilarating, epic pop-cabaret-prog-folk laced with Baltic overtones. This is bubblegum and borscht, popcorn and pierogies, spun into scrumptious sound. If the Merseybeat gypsy melodies don’t get you, the well-wrought lines will.” Robert Burke Warren, Chronogram
