Charlie Baran has lived a life of music. Before moving the the United States he was a founding member of the legendary Honduran musical group Banda Blanca, who’s song “Sopa de Caracol” became the #1 Billboard Top Latin Songs hit in 1992. Now a maintenance man at a Catholic grade school by day, Charlie has kept his musical flame glowing largely through acoustic solo performances around Chicago for the past ten years. Charlie Baran is a true virtuoso. No one sees him perform without recognizing the presence of a true master – an heir to a rich tradition of Honduran music, as well as a guitar slinging showman and a gifted songwriter whose skill transcends all genres. But throughout most of his career he has existed in the shadows – until the formation of Radio Free Honduras.

Gary and Roger TerBush have been playing music together for most of their lives. They started out as teenagers in various rock and acoustic acts.

It wasn’t until the late 70’s that their musical interests really joined together to form what was, and has continued to be, a union of great singing and playing.

Their music is a combination of traditional country, bluegrass and gospel music fused with contemporary acoustic sounds delivered with great vocals and instrumental solos.

Drum wizard and groove inventor, Walker Adams, is an Original Funk-Jazz drummer best known for his work with St. Vincent, Percy Jones (Brian Eno), and the NYC-based rock band The Ludlow Thieves. He leads his group of noteworthy NYC jazz musicians through original compositions featuring deep grooves, soaring melodies, and exploratory improv.

Walker's current album is titled Perpetual Motion. Adams believes music and dance are the essence of life. The Vermonter-turned-Brooklynite combines jazz, funk and rock into a pulsating orb of danceable, future-funk. His degree from Berklee and work with fusion bassist Percy Jones, art-pop icon St. Vincent, and The Roots bassist Mark Kelley is apparent in his complex, original grooves and virtuosic solos.

Recreating the spirit of Bill Graham's Fillmore East, Prisoners of 2nd Avenue (PO2A) perform classic blues-rock from the mid-60s through the early 70s, then stretch and inject it with their own personalities!

After creating a loyal following in downtown NYC, the band became more popular - garnering recognition and sit-ins by Al Kooper, GE Smith, Paul Shaffer, Warren Haynes, David Johansen and the late, great Levon Helm.

The band's setlist typically includes songs by Cream, Blind Faith, The Band, electric Bob Dylan, Procol Harum, The Band, Blodwyn Pig, Traffic, and more.

Joining our favorite Slambovians is special guest, guitar hero and Grammy nominated Gary Lucas. Gary played guitar for Captain Beefheart and collaborated with Jeff Buckley; cowriting “Grace,” “Mojo Pin,” among others. “Grace,” which was recorded at Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, will receive a truly rare performance as Gary joins the band on this very special Thanksgiving weekend gig!

Adding to the festivities, we’re asking all our fellow Slambovians and friends to bring a non-perishable food item or donation to the Colony show to benefit The Family of Woodstock.
