 The Southern Dutchess Concert Band will be giving an outdoor concert this evening at Schlathaus Park, sponsored by the Town Of Wappinger. The park is located at the intersection of County Route 93/Myers Corners Road and County Route 94/All Angels Road (click on the map above). Admission is Free and there is bleacher seating, but bring your lawn chairs to enjoy the concert in comfort. The 50-piece Southern Dutchess Concert Band will be performing a selection of show tunes, popular standards, marches, light classical and wind ensemble music. Highlights will include: Aaron Copland's "Appalachian Spring", an arrangement of the hymn "It Is Well with My Soul", a medley of songs from the "Mary Poppins" film, and George Gershwin's "An American In Paris". The Southern Dutchess Concert Band consists of woodwind, brass and percussion musicians from southern Dutchess County and surrounding areas. If it rains, this concert will be rescheduled to Thurs. The summer Rock Camp program increases musicianship, builds self-confidence, and gives teens from all over the Hudson Valley an opportunity to perform for a live audience.
Our students spend two weeks in a hands-on environment, forming bands, learning composition, real performance and recording techniques and the joys and complexities of being in a rock band. All while working with top professional musicians.
New York School of Music, Serving the Hudson Valley since 2004, is a full-service music school with all the tools needed to learn, play and create music.  Experience a traditional cultural festival from Oaxaca, Mexico right here in the Hudson Valley!
The festival begins with a dancer representing the Corn Goddess leading a procession of all participating groups to the stage including: Grupo Folclórico de Poughkeepsie, Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Nueva York, Ballet Folklórico Guadalupano, Ballet Costa Chica New Jersey, and Zaadxil Danza de los Sanctions. Special for our tenth year is live music by Banda Azul de Oaxaca from the State of Oaxaca.
There will be food vendors offering traditional Oaxacan fare such as tlayudas, téjate and chapulines; craft vendors, children’s activities and information booths from local non-profit organizations.

Tompkins Corners Cultural Center is delighted to welcome back the David Amram Quintet, with Kevin Twigg (drums), Rene Hart (bass), Adam Amram and Elliot Peper (percussionists), on Sunday, August 5th for the Third (mostly) Annual David Amram Concert.
David Amram is a composer, conductor and multi-instrumentalist who has composed more than one hundred orchestral and chamber music works and written many scores for Broadway theater and film, including the classic scores for the films, Splendor in the Grass and The Manchurian Candidate.
This is an all-ages event and children, parents and grandparents are all welcome. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. Kids under 12 are FREE. As a grandson of jazz legend Doc Cheatham, this well-known young trumpet player runs jazz through his blood stream. He mixes 'old school' jazz sounds with contemporary influences, adding a dash of funk, hip hop and even touches of electronic music. His performances are dynamic and energetic and grab the attention of his audience.
Theo Croker’s 2016 release Escape Velocity is ranked the #1 Jazz Album in the UK by Echoes Magazine. He is also featured on Common’s album, “Black America Again.”
