![]() Friday 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm | The New Golden Age of Latin Music with GlobalFest on the Road, Las Cafeteras, Orkesta Mendoza Latin, World | The Performing Arts Center, Purchase College 735 Anderson Hill Road Purchase, NY See Map |
Join us as GlobalFEST ON THE ROAD brings The New Golden Age of Latin Music to The Performing Arts Center, Purchase College. Music knows no boundaries, and so it is no surprise that the Mexican- American communities of Arizona and California are hotbeds of musical creativity, merging styles that reflect the changing borders and shared cultural identities. Orkesta Mendoza and Las Cafeteras are two of today’s hottest bands on this scene, taking the fabled Latin sound in inspiring new directions. The infectious indie-mambo band Orkesta Mendoza updates the Latin big band tradition, merging a multitude of Latin styles like cumbia, merengue, and ranchera with electronica, strings, and unexpected bursts of western pop. Las Cafeteras recreate traditional Afro-Caribbean Son Jarocho music in a wildly vibrant style, mixing traditional instruments with Afro-Mexican beats, rhythms, and rhymes. Tickets & More Info

![]() Sunday 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm | Scott Krokoff Americana, Singer-Songwriter. Folk Rock and country | Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts Online: www.wtbq.com or 93.5FM, NY See Map |
With a rich sound drawn primarily from his love of 60s and 70s music, New Yorker Scott Krokoff (pron: Crow-Cough) weaves elements of folk rock & country pop into confessional and compelling Americana. He is an evocative and introspective songwriter, and a deft finger-picker in the vein of James Taylor and Paul Simon with "an edge of Replacements styled alt rock to his strum" (Hiplanta). Scott has opened for Elle King and Grace Weber, toured in the US and Europe, including playing live in Belgium for his biggest fan, and received radio airplay throughout the US, Canada and Europe. Scott's last record, 2015's Realizations & Declarations, Vol. 2, received rave reviews praising Scott's "graceful tales of morality and perseverance" (The Vinyl District) and "music in the vein of 1960s and '70s songsmiths, but also recalling hot up-and-comers like Father John Misty" (PopDose). Scott's currently working on his next record that is due to be released by June 2018.

![]() I am honored to be to part of the 32nd season of the Lunch 'N Listen concert series hosted by The First Lutheran Church of Poughkeepsie. The sets are about 45 min (so that people can get back to work!) I will play 6 and 12-string acoustic instrumental guitar pieces, and a few whimsical vocal pieces. I play fingerstyle guitar, i.e. playing with one's fingers rather than a pick. Whether I am playing there or seeing someone else perform, Lunch 'N Listen is always a fun way to spend a Wednesday afternoon. The First Lutheran Church is on the corner of Catherine and Mill Streets in Poughkeepsie. Light refreshments downstairs in the Fellowship Hall afterwards.
