He will be incorporating technology developed by Paul Geluso, an engineer, composer, and educator from NYU. ABOUT OZARK HENRY: Since David Bowie praised Ozark Henry’s debut album as one of his favorites in 1996, the Belgian artist has produced music ranging from avant-garde electronica to pop and, a symphonic album with the National Orchestra of Belgium. Henry’s universe is defined by a blending of craft with experiment, audio with visual and heritage with technology. TEDx and Google New York invited him to talk about his recent ground-breaking work in 3D immersive sound. Cedric Watson will give a Creole/Cajun Fiddle workshop from 3:30 to 5pm and a 7:30 pm concert for everyone. Fee for workshop will be $20; Concert admission is $15, both for $30. There will be an informal Jam session after the concert…all musicians welcome.
One of the brightest young talents to emerge in Cajun, Creole and Zydeco (Louisiana French) music over the last decade, Cedric Watson is a four-time Grammy-nominated fiddler, singer, accordionist & songwriter with seemingly unlimited potential.
Originally from San Felipe, TX (population 868), Cedric made his first appearance at the age of 19 at the Zydeco Jam at The Big Easy in Houston, TX. Two years later, he moved to south Louisiana, immersing himself in French music and language. ![]() Zara Lawler, flutist combines music, dance & theatre. In 2012, she staged Sciarrino’s “Il Cerchio Tagliato dei Suoni” for 104 flutes at the Guggenheim in New York. Last year Zara and Paul Fadoul, percussionist, performed the premiere performance of “Clickable,” a theatrical concert. A Juilliard student of Carol Wincenc and Samuel Baron, Zara is currently based in New York City where she will be a guest of the New York Flute Club in December 2017. Jessica Meyer, violist/composer and Juilliard graduate has performed internationally as a soloist and member of contemporary music's "Collective Induction." Her compositions have been featured on Q2's Marathon of Emerging Women Composers and a new work in collaboration with Zara Lawler will premiere at this concert. About Human Host Human Host began in December 2002 and is based in New York City, Pennsylvania, and other parts of the northeast U.S. The creative core of Human Host is an ever changing ensemble made up of multi-media artists and figments of your imagination. The group has released many records on independent labels, they’ve scored soundtracks for several short films, and they contribute prose to the website Splice Today. ![]() Thackery co-founded & spent 14 years as part of The Nighthawks, one of the hardest-working blues bar bands in North America. Touring under his own name since 1987, he found widespread acceptance on the festival circuit. His hard-edged, tough-as-nails approach to guitar playing and his trio's driving rhythm section holds appeal for fans of Muddy Waters, Bruce Springsteen and Joe Grushecky. Jimmy Thackery & the Assassins split up in 1991. Jimmy Thackery & The Drivers, quickly forged a name on the blues festival and club circuit through prolific recording and roadwork. His 1998 album, SWITCHING GEARS, includes guest performances by Joe Louis Walker, Lonnie Brooks, Chubby Carrier, and Francine Reed, but any of Thackery's albums will delight fans of tough, heavy, driving guitar playing. | ||

Jeff has shared the stage with Jesse Winchester, Pete Seeger, Bill Morrissey, NRBQ, Peter Case, Gillian Welch & Robert Earl Keene. He has played in Nashville's Bluebird Cafe & New York's Bottom Line & has co-written songs with such notables as Fred Koller & Leroy Preston. The current CD, "Edsel's Retreat", features long-standing band members & guest artists Jeremy Baum (Shemekia Copeland) on Hammond B3 organ, Andy Goessling (Railroad Earth) on dobro & Banjo-Matic & Buddy Conoly (Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul) on accordion and pennywhistle. | ||
