The FALCON

Marlboro, NY   See Map
Join us at The Falcon to celebrate the life and work of Larry Coryell - the "Godfather of Fusion" - as his son, Murali Coryell assembles the finest musicians of our time in this memorable tribute.

Larry Coryell (1943 – 2017)

As one of THE pioneers of jazz-rock, Larry Coryell deserves a special place in the history books. He brought what amounted to a nearly alien sensibility to jazz electric guitar playing in the 60s; a hard-edged, cutting tone, and phrasing and note-bending that owed as much to blues, rock and even country as it did to earlier, smoother bop influences. Yet as a true eclectic, armed with a brilliant technique, he was comfortable in almost every style, covering almost every base from the most decibel-heavy, distortion-laden electric work to the most delicate, soothing, intricate lines on acoustic guitar. Coryell has graced the stages of other legends like Hendrix, Santana, and Clapton.

Nick is the primary writer, and he enjoys collaborating with many talented artists. They take pride in the details and nuances of their sound, and aim to deliver an unforgettable show.

201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Brooklyn born Alonzo Wright's interest in music began at the age of eight and he has worked with artists such as Dave Valentin, Bob Franceschini as well as Kenny Garrett, who he worked with as road manager for 4 years. Wright's most recent cd is titled "Menage a Trey", a trio project with Russell Worrell on drums and Kenny Davis on bass.

Greg Randolph of The Republic of Jazz deemed “Menage a Trey” to be his “Favorite CD of 2015”. His review states that “Wright’s tone is reminiscent of Trane but in a much more subdued manner (and I say that as high praise) and with a funky early Grover Washington Jr. flavour on top…I cannot recommend this disc highly enough. Finding an entire CD that flows like a telling story is rare. This is the one.”

The Alonzo Wright Project features, Kendall Scott on keys, Noah Garabrdian on bass, Russell Worrell on drums and Alonzo Wright on saxes and flute.

Easter Sunday Brunch
with D Major Project, Debbie Major, Akie Bermiss, Ken McGloin, Jon Bates
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
The D Major Project features a brilliant collaboration of musicians who approach their repertoire from a wide, eclectic mix of influences. Often referred to as “an improvisational jazz group”, that describes only one aspect of their music. More acurately, The D Major Project performs everything from folk to jazz to classic soul, latin, neo-funk, world beat, roots and pop music, in their own unorthodox way! Popular songs from every era, genre and style, are rewritten, re-arranged, reharmonized and rhythmically transformed into fun, quirky, original, if not unique, renditions.

Centered around the mesmerizing vocal stylings of DEBBIE MAJOR (“DMajor”) the sound is enhanced by the extraordinary talents of KEN McGLOIN (guitar & ukulele), AKIE BERMISS (piano, keyboards & vocals), and JON BATES (drums & percussion).

That's the gospel truth. Onstage, Elkin was simply a force of nature."

After taking a year off to work on a few things (like the new record) I'm bringing the Singer Songwriter series back to the all new, even more music friendly Green Growler. We'll kick off this series with the return of Paul Anthony, who was on the closing bill of the last show we did, so I thought it was only appropriate to have him open the series back up. And I'm THRILLED to have Emily Duff on the bill- She's going to be doing songs from her new album "Maybe In The Morning". Read this article, and get to the Growler on Thursday. This is one great album and I can't wait to hear her perform. We'll be at 4 Croton Point Ave. and we'll kick off around 7:30 or so. No Cover. Great Beer. Great Music.
