Unitarian Fellowship, 320 Sawkill Rd.
Kingston, NY   See Map
Somewhere between Folk and Rock, classic and modern, pop and abstract there walks a very fine award-winning singer-songwriter named Glen Roethel. His powerful baritone-tenor voice recalls the more playful melodies of his favorite, Cat Stevens. His "full-band" style of rhythmic and percussive playing – with classic folk-guitar moments for good measure – commands the listener's attention and often invites participation. *This is not a Brunch performer*, but *do* expect upbeat messages seasoned with storytelling. Described as spontaneous and exciting “like 1000 tiny fun bombs going off all at once,” Glen is full of surprises and always ready to delight his audience, so don't miss this show! The open mic portion of the evening is a great opportunity for newcomers and seasoned performers with a welcoming, appreciative audience. All styles of music or spoken word, folk &beyond. Doors 6:30-Sign-up 7pm.

Jazz
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Brooklyn born Alonzo Wright's interest in music began at the age of eight and he has worked with artists such as Dave Valentin, Bob Franceschini as well as Kenny Garrett, who he worked with as road manager for 4 years. Wright's most recent cd is titled "Menage a Trey", a trio project with Russell Worrell on drums and Kenny Davis on bass.

Greg Randolph of The Republic of Jazz deemed “Menage a Trey” to be his “Favorite CD of 2015”. His review states that “Wright’s tone is reminiscent of Trane but in a much more subdued manner (and I say that as high praise) and with a funky early Grover Washington Jr. flavour on top…I cannot recommend this disc highly enough. Finding an entire CD that flows like a telling story is rare. This is the one.”

The Alonzo Wright Project features, Kendall Scott on keys, Noah Garabrdian on bass, Russell Worrell on drums and Alonzo Wright on saxes and flute.

$10 admission.

Bordeaux & Bordeaux, an acoustic night with Drew & Selena
with Drew Bordeaux, and Selena Bordeaux
Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Tonight, Drew Bordeaux and his "lil sis" Selena Bordeaux join forces to heat up our stage on a winter's evening!

Drew is an accomplished singer, guitarist, violinist and bass player, and one of our favorite artists. But, among all his accomplishments, Drew is first and foremost a songwriter. He has composed dozens of songs and performed at an impressive list of venues, including Boston's the Middle East and Sanders Theater, and NYC's the Bitter End, Ace of Clubs and CBGB (and let's not forget 12 Grapes!)

Selena is also a talented guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. We first met Selena as a young teen, and she's grown to be an outstanding performer. Both Selena and Drew will be singing many of their original tunes tonight, as well as some choice covers, both as a duo and solo.

**Free Admission**

Jan Krist and Jim Bizer
Singer-Songwriter, Folk/Traditional, and Americana
Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online: www.wtbq.com or 93.5FM, NY   See Map
Jan Krist and Jim Bizer hail from Detroit, justly famous as Motown, but home to myriad musical influences. It was here that they met and made music together while still in their teens. After separately establishing their reputations as performers and songwriters, Jim and Jan have joined forces in a fun and formidable duo where the sum is greater than the already substantial parts.

Jan and Jim take the “duo” concept and run with it: performances mesh and interlock, lyric and melody interweave in surprising and intriguing ways. Buoyant to poignant, heartfelt to hilarious, they cut a wide stylistic swath that reflects their eclectic musical backgrounds. And yet, their sound is distinctly their own, an unmistakable musical fingerprint. No wonder Jim and Jan have been honored as winners or finalists from such entities as The Great American Song contest, Kerrville New Folk (TX), Mountain Stage NewSong (WV) and the Detroit Music Awards.

It’s the Music – a comic musical journey confronting the continued pursuit of success in middle-age.
with It's the Music
Shades Repertory Theatre
64 New Main Street
Haverstraw, NY   See Map
Success can be defined in a number of ways but, often, it’s associated with achieving notoriety in a broad sense . . . a sense of celebrity. This applies to any profession. However, when it comes to music, it’s the most popular yardstick. There are thousands upon thousands of great unknown musicians. What makes them different from musicians who achieve celebrity? It’s not always clear but whatever the contributing factors for such achievement, the pursuit represents the triple-D threat of being drained, demoralized, and depressed. And if you’ve been at it all your life – and you’re now a “person of a certain age” – it’s enough to make you cry . . . unless you find a way to laugh.

From where the middle-aged folks who pulled this musical play together stand, pursuing dreams can knock you down for the count, lift you to a new level of determination, or reveal a new definition of success. The choice is as individual as those who dare to dream.

Indie, Rock, Folk, Reggae
with Karma Darwin
Rock (progressive)
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Karma Darwin is a progressive new band that mixes high energy sound and harmonies with smooth vibrant riffs.

The Poughkeepsie Journal writes, "This band is more about fun than formalities. They play hard rock. They season their songs with hints of a Caribbean island groove that evokes sunsets and sand. They are a catalyst for dancing."

When it comes to writing songs, Peterson says their sound is very much their own. "We don’t restrict ourselves and that allows us to play rock, indie, reggae and mix all these together to make our own sound."

Karma Darwin is Ryan Lowry on drums, Alex Peterson on guitar, John Newton on bass, and Drew Stubbs-Stroud on guitar/vocals. Their vocal harmonies are reminiscent of 50's and 60's style rock-n-roll with a breath of new life.
