Karl Allweier is a Hudson Valley, New York based guitarist / bassist who has been performing and recording in the area for over 20 years. He has composed music that has appeared on the A&E Channel's Biography series, The Travel Channel Road Trip series, The History Channel's Da Vinci Code and Big Texas documentaries, and others. He has played and recorded with George Kooymans (Golden Earring), "Bumblefoot" Ron Thal (Guns N Roses), John Platania (Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Don McLean), Augie Meyers (Texas Tornadoes, Sir Douglas Quintet), Larry Coryell and son Murali Coryell (touring for opening act B.B. King, Cyndi Lauper and David Sanborn), Knack Drummer Bruce Gary, The Coasters, Richie Scarlet, Dr. Know and Daryl Jenifer of Bad Brains, as well as drummers Anton Fig and Adam Nussbaum. This Coffeehouse will be featuring the world music group Heartwood. Open mic performances will be available to all. Cost of admission for this event is $6 ($5 for Folk Guild members and seniors). Heartwood is an organic world fusion ensemble featuring multicultural rhythms and heart-centered melodies. The hauntingly beautiful and beguiling sounds of Native American flutes blend with world percussion and guitar to create harmony from diversity. The group is comprised of Julie & Alvin Harris, Celine Daly, Kofi Maxwell Donkor and Chuck & Theresa Trella. Flutes are played by Julie, Celine, and Alvin. Celine and Julie also conduct healing sound baths combining Himalayan bowls, crystal bowls and the healing sounds of Native American flute. Each of the members of Lines of Reason have had illustrious carreers, performing as band leaders as well as playing with such greats as Sonny Fortune, McCoy Tyner, Hannibal, Marvin Peterson, and Clark Terry. These five friends now come into their own, with this exciting and creative collaboration, where each player has equal input. Bassist Marcus Mclaurine toured and recorded with Kenny Burrell and Clark Terry, among others, following a stint in the Air Force Marching Band. Master drummer Alan Nelson, is in high-demand for his intense energy and hyper-sensitivity. Alto saxophonist Joe Ford has earned a reputation for his work with the great pianist McCoy Tyner. In 2015, Shadetree Mechanics was inducted into the NY Blues Hall of Fame. (They've always been in ours!) They were also runners up for the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation (JSJBF) Memphis Blues competition the past four years. Shadetree plays a mix of standard & contemporary Blues and Rock with a little bit of N'Orleans thrown in. Everything from Muddy Waters and Etta James to BB King and Buddy Guy to Eric Clapton and Hendrix. Plus originals like "The More I Drink, The Better You Look" and "Wash My Blues". For over 25 years the Towne Crier's legendary Open Mic Nights have drawn top talent from throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond, including Sloan Wainwright, the Slambovian Circus Of Dreams and Red Molly. For over 25 years the Towne Crier's legendary Open Mic Nights have drawn top talent from throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond, including Sloan Wainwright, the Slambovian Circus Of Dreams and Red Molly. Veteran musicians Joe Gil (trombone), Neil Alexander (organ and keyboards) and Nadav Snir-Zelniker (drums) have put together a new group called the "Thunderhead Organ Trio". The group is taking the concept of the organ trio in a new and different direction, drawing on many different influences and styles.

The New Riders of the Purple Sage, signed to Columbia Records by Clive Davis, released its eponymous first album in September 1971 to widespread acclaim.
