Wali Ali unites the intimacy of folk music with the improvisation of jazz and the irresistible rhythms of R&B, and he invites the listener to explore new interpretations of contemporary melodies. Wali has played guitar with various musical artists including Taj Mahal, Norman Connors, Donny Hathaway, Bobbi Humphrey, Melvin Van Peebles, Noel Pointer, Lonnie Liston Smith, Peter Tosh, and Stanley Turrentine. He has scored for television, and he was bandleader for the Broadway musical "Mule Bone". Wali is also the recipient of the ASCAP Songwriters Award. "Blues for Peace" is a grass roots movement of musicians, music promoters and music venues, or anybody who wants to be involved to promote peace.Shadetree Mechanics is part of the movement, and will be performing at 12 Grapes in support of The "Blues for Peace Project", which is sanctioned by the United Nations. This world-wide fundraiser will take place on May 27, 28, 29 and 30 in cities and towns around the globe. Blues for Peace has partnered with the USA for UNHCR, the U.N. Refugee Agency, and will be raising funds to assist refugees world-wide. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the U.N. in support of Human Rights around the world. Shadetree Mechanics are 2015 NY and NJ Blues Hall of Fame inductees. The band features Michael "The Rev" Rochelle on lead vocals/guitar/washboard, "Elmo" John Lawson, Pat Gregor and Ray G. $10 Cover, minimum, or higher donation will go towards supporting this worthy cause. | As a young child in the Bronx, Joe Giacoio was abandoned in a music store and raised by a pack of acoustical guitars. This explains a lot. Joe has won awards for his strange guitar playing and even stranger songwriting. Crossroads Magazine writes, "Some people seem to have the ability to create music that is at the same time funny, serious and incredibly clever. Joe Giacoio is one of those people." Despite popular demand Joe has just released a third album entitled "I Love Hamburgers", featuring players who have performed with Johnny Cash, George Jones, and Bob Dylan. Don and Maureen Black have hosted this series for several months now, and it's well attended, so reservations are suggested. I'm thrilled to be on the same bill with my good friends and awesome performers Patty Smith and Helen Avakian. Helen lives in Wisconsin now, and became the first woman to win the International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship since leaving "The 'Hud". | The Warwick Valley Chorale is continuing its 75th anniversary celebration by participating in a concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall on May 28, 2016. This concert by MidAmerica Productions will feature the world premiere of Ivo Antognini’s oratorio A Prayer for Mother Earth. In the words of the composer, this work “is a declaration of love and a thanksgiving to our beautiful planet, to its creator and all living beings that inhabit it.” After this performance, the Chorale will be presenting the oratorio at two local concerts the weekend of June 3-5 under the baton of Maestro Stanley Curtis and accompanied by Gail Johnson. Curtis will conduct the 75-member Chorale in the Antognini oratorio, as well as a stirring John Rutter arrangement of American spirituals, a sequence of Gwyneth Walker settings, and other traditional American songs. | ||

Born in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, William Maisonet-Torres was influenced by his father, renowned percussionist William Maisonet Figueroa (a/k/a Papo Conga) and his mother Doris who sang and recorded a few Boleros. Willy quickly developed a keen ear, a natural affinity for percussion, and a deep love for the music of Puerto Rico. Willy is a regular on the New York Latin session scene and has recorded vocals for Rey Ruiz, Tito Nieves, Alexandre Pires, Ricardo Montaner, Christian Castro, Gilberto Santarosa, Ricky Martin, to name a few. He has released 3 albums "Willy's NYC Salsa Project" (2008), "Hardcore" (2011), and "On Another Path" (2015); has received 9 Grammy nominations; and is a 4 time Grammy awardee: 2004 (The Spanish Harlem Orchestra "Across 110 Street"), 2006 (Best Tropical Album Producer), 2010 (The Spanish Harlem Orchestra "Viva La Tradicion"), and 2013 (for collaboration & as guest artist for The Pacific Mambo Orchestra).
