CASE OF THE THREE-SIDED DREAM: A Documentary Film
with Rashaan Roland Kirk
Jazz
Time & Space Limited
34 Columbia St, Hudson, NY 12534
Hudson, NY   See Map
Kirk was a one-of-a-kind musician, personality, satirist, and windmill-slayer who despite being blind, becoming paralyzed, and facing America’s racial injustices – did not relent. His life’s work was exploring sound and making music. Beyond that, he was an outspoken activist who started a political movement to get more exposure for jazz in America – particularly on TV. Dreams were important to Rahsaan. They planted the seed in his mind to play three horns simultaneously. His name came from dreams. When asked about his religious beliefs, he would say: I’m from the Religion of Dreams. At the age of 40, Rahsaan suffered a stroke which left him half paralyzed. Despite this, he continued to tour and play music, with the use of only one hand, literally, until the day he died. 2014. 1h28m.

House Concert

RIVER SPIRIT MUSIC HOUSE CONCERTS
Hastings-on-Hudson, NY   See Map
When Guy Davis plays the blues, he doesn’t want you to notice how much art is involved. “It takes work making a song that’s simple, and playful, and easy to do,” he says. His parallel careers– as a musician, an author, a music teacher and a film, television and Broadway actor—mark Davis as a Renaissance man, yet the blues remain his first and greatest love. Growing up in a family of artists (his parents were Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis), he fell under the spell of Blind Willie McTell and Fats Waller at an early age.

Guy has 12 acclaimed albums and was nominated for nearly a dozen Blues Awards. Davis is reluctant to define himself simply as a bluesman. “To me, a bluesman is somebody who has to carry a knife or a gun and enter dangerous situations and sometimes fuel it with alcohol—That’s not who I am. I call myself a blues musician, and to me the blues is a broad title.

She will talk about the book’s design, created in collaboration with the cutting edge firm DBOX, and how they accommodated - in a reader-friendly way - an extensive narrative, hundreds of images, two timelines, and annotated aerial maps of New York City landmarks. High Falls Cafe
12 Stone Dock Road
High Falls, NY   See Map
Vince Fisher began playing and singing in public about 12 years ago. Since then he has played in venues from the Capital Region to Tomkins Cove and from Tampa to Key West. He appears yearly at The Hooley On The Hudson, an Irish Festival in Kingston, NY with his longtime mentor and writing and recording partner, Tom Kiernan of Tampa, FL.

Frank Murasso is best described as an eclectic artist who enjoys painting pictures with words, landscapes with melody, and mood with his vocal attributes. From Crossover Country, to Rock, To Folk and Pop, Frank's soulful sound signature breaks the shackles of boundaries.

The Band Upstairs writes and performs songs that are rich in harmony, steeped in humanity and fueled by 100 proof, rocket-grade honesty. TBU songs are as enjoyable to listen to as they are thought provoking. C’mon upstairs!

Join us for a wonderful night of music!

Aptly named The Projectionists Club, it will feature locally produced beer, wine and spirits, plenty of outdoor seating and a stage for live music.” Party programming starts at 7:00pm and includes an oyster shucking demonstratio, six freshly shucked oysters (or shrimp cocktail), two glasses of Gimmonet Gonet champagne, and other snacks. Drew Bordeaux takes our stage once again with an awesome band, J.J. Clarke on drums and Anthony Candullo on bass.

Drew can take one of your most cherished Rock songs and make you love it all over again. From Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Police, Red Hot Chili Peppers, BB King, Santana and on and on. And his use of the loop pedal brings an entirely energy to his performance.

Drew never fails to captivate and entertain any audience. "If there are three people in the room or three thousand, you can believe I'll be strumming and banging away until the strings are breaking..."
