Ed Palermo Big Band's British Invasion Christmas! The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Ed’s interpretation of the music of iconoclastic composer Frank Zappa has brought him wide recognition. His first CD of this material, “the ed palermo big band plays the music of frank zappa”, garnered rave reviews. Downbeat magazine gave it a 4-star review. Palermo’s second CD of Zappa material, entitled “Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance” has been received with equal enthusiasm from publications all over the world, including another rave from Downbeat.

The latest release, 'Oh No! Not Jazz!!' consists of two albums - the first explores Ed's distinctive interpretations of Frank Zappa's work and works from original Mothers Of Invention. Two notable pieces are performed here - Inca Roads, with a vocal by guest Napoleon Murphy Brock contrasts with one of his most 'notoriously difficult' works, The Black Page #2. The second album features Ed's own riotous, colorful compositions, featured here for the first time in over 25 years!

"Mr. Gates is a solid example of a performer who is doing something that no one else does. He evokes an age...when musicians were entertainers and entertainers were musicians, and a sense of humor was as important as a sense of rhythm." Will Friedwald, The New York Sun.

Blessed with a full-bodied and mellifluous voice, extraordinary rhythmic precision and an unerring sense of lyricism, Gates' total command of the vernacular, boundless creativity and exuberant passion sets him apart from nearly every other vocalist on the scene.

Giacomo has performed with Kurt Elling's The Four Brothers vocal ensemble, Lou Donaldson, Freddie Hubbard, Richie Cole, and Rufus Reid, among others; plays the major U.S. clubs, including New York's Birdland, Smoke, the Blue Note, and Dizzy's; tours internationally; and has six highly acclaimed CDs. You’ve sat through ITP 1.0… you’ve rocked with ITP 2.0… now it’s time to get down with ITP 3.0!

For the past six (ish) years, I’ve had the pleasure of playing music with my brother and many of my closest friends. We’ve had tremendous support from our family, friends and the community; for which we are ever grateful.

Today, I am thrilled to announce that after a one year hiatus, In The Pocket is back! It with great pleasure that Ben, Jared, Mike, Christian and I will be returning with two new fantastic musicians. We welcome Brian Zeller on keyboards and Rich Rodriguez on lead vocals. Their addition to the band creates a whole new sound which is sure to get everyone up on their feet.
