The luscious vocal duo Amy Fradon and Leslie Ritter will appear in concert at Unison Arts Center for a special evening of old favorites, original solo pieces and cover songs culled from their three acclaimed CD's. Helen Avakian and Cathie Malach will join them on guitar and keyboards, respectively.Amy Fradon and Leslie Ritter have a successful recording and performing career as a singing duo for more than 12 years before deciding to pursue solo careers and other endeavors. A few years ago they performed together for a reunion concert and had such a good time they decided to play together a few times a year. Eddie Henderson (Trumpet), One of today's top and most original jazz trumpet players, Henderson first got worldwide recognition for his jazz-trumpet playing from the popular recordings he made with Herbie Hancock's Mwandishi group during the early '70s. George Cables (Piano) Gigs around New York attracted attention to Cables' versatility by the end of the 1970s, Cables was garnering a reputation as everyone's favorite sideman. Gary Bartz (Sax/Clarinet), was described by jazz critic Stanley Crouch as "one of the very best who has ever picked up the instrument". He has recorded more than 40 solo albums and over 200 as a guest artist. Ed Howard (Bass), has been featured on three discs created by the Haynes group, and played in Clifford Jordan's own quartet from 1983 through 1992. Billy Drummond (Drums), one of the busiest players of his generation, he can be heard on nearly 300 albums, including three critically acclaimed recordings as a band leader. | ||
