On Saturday, September 6 at 6pm, Hudson housewares store and art gallery TK Home and Garden will host “An Evening of Classical and Tango” with Helena Baillie (violin) and Alexander Henry (guitar) in its second-floor gallery space.  Following his departure from military service in 1969, Tisziji pursued his interests in Canada, generating his own musical ideas as well as taking a leading role in the development of Toronto’s underground music scene.
He met and inspired the now world-famous keyboard player, Paul Shaffer, who became Tisziji’s primary accompanist from 1970 to 1972, and recalls: “Tisziji’s music is of a unique, other-worldly nature… although I didn’t understand it, I was galvanized. He began to instruct me in how to accompany and play this type of music. Thus began a musical and spiritual friendship which continues to this day." "...nobody plays guitar the way Tisziji Munoz does. He is very spiritual, and as a guitar player he swings wild.”

 The amazing Nina Jirka will lead a short demonstration & dance lesson, followed by tango and swing dancing, with musical accompaniment courtesy of the Bernstein Bard Quartet.
Nina Jirka studied dance at the legendary Russian Dance Academy in Moscow and danced with the Moscow Festival Ballet, Perm Opera, Kremlin Ballet and Stars of Bolshoi. She founded Tango New Paltz in 2006 with Ellen Crystal.
The Bernstein Bard Quartet is Steve Bernstein on mandolin, Mark Bernstein on guitar, Robert Bard on upright bass and Brian Melick on percussion. These longtime friends of Unison have incorporated tango and swing into their repertoire, creating a compelling dance set that is suitable for any dancer, regardless of their background.

 Singer-songwriter, Jay Hitt, is celebrating the release of his seventh CD, “Greetings from the Wilderness”. An accomplished guitarist with a breezy voice and a talent for vivid story-telling, Hitt was twice voted Best Acoustic Musician by the readers of the Pittsburgh City Paper; was the winner of the New Folk Competition at the NJ Folk Festival; and his song “Tracy Loves Ray” won Best Song in the Canadian Narrative Music Contest.
Lisa Jane Lipkin is a piano-playing songstress who weaves poetic lyrics through irresistible melodies. Once dubbed a cross between Joni Mitchell & Diana Ross, her sophisticated style and inspired performances have landed her opening spots for Steve Forbert, Dar Williams, Vance Gilbert & many more. Her recordings have garnered international airplay & her songs have won awards including 2nd place in its category in Mike Pinder’s Song Wars.

Pumping Ethyl includes Pete Brown on lead vocals, Steve Massa on guitar, Steve Mansfield on drums, David Wilson on bass and Mark Macilvane on rhythm guitar/vocals. The band has been together for eight years, playing venues throughout New York's Hudson Valley from Rockland County to the Newburgh Waterfront and even to Boston.
Look for pictures of Pumping Ethyl and all you'll see are photos of a PACKED DANCE FLOOR!! We're betting this will be one big party!
