 Unison Arts Center celebrates the musical legacy of Pete Seeger & Lee Hayes with Work o' the Weavers on Saturday, May 31st at 8pm. Work o' the Weavers is David Bernz on vocals, banjo and guitar, James Durst on vocals and guitar, Mark Murphy on vocals and upright bass and Martha Sandefer on vocals and percussion.
Pete Seeger called Work o' the Weavers, "Four wonderful people who've . . . picked up where the Weavers left off. I put on the recording and had to listen to it twice. Fantastic!" The Washington Post wrote, " . . . there are moments when you may find yourself thinking that the group's original members are all within range of the microphones."
The evening will be a mix of beloved favorites and newer songs.
Tickets are $24 in advance ($20 for Unison members) and $28 at the door ($24 members). Students are half price with a valid ID.

 Art Hightower is deeply called by the drums, and has performed with Chuck Mangione, Doc Severinsen, Jeff Tyzick, The Dixie Cups, Pee Wee Ellis, Barbra Mason, Loretta Holloway, Buster Cooper, Dennis Wilson, Ray Blue, David Amram and was the drummer for the national tour of "Ain't Misbehavin'" (2002-3).

| Brian Carrion has been playing guitar and singing since the age of 5. Brian was born in Brooklyn New York and was taught music at an early age by his father David. He studied music at SUNY Oneonta and has been playing over 10 years in New York City as part of the Carrion and Donovan Acoustic Duo. Musical influences range from Dave Mathews, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, and Paul Simon among many others. Brian met banjo player Mike Perrupatu and mandolin player Ryan O'Shea after moving up to orange county. Mike and Ryan have played together for years touring Nashville Tennessee with influences like Old Crow Medicine Show and The Avett Brothers. Together these three voices sing in perfect 3 part harmony and blend a different mix of instruments to cover all kinds of music from classic rock and bluegrass to alternative and folk. |

Saxophonist, composer, arranger and educator, Peter Furlan, demonstrates striking originality on his Twinz Records release “Spy Glass Hill”.
Keyboardist/composer, Neil Alexander, is involved in the multiple facets of production, live sound, musical theater, modern dance, film, and teaching.
Terry Silverlight has contributed his talents as a leader, composer, producer, arranger, drummer, author and educator to projects in nearly every music genre.

His music is a suitcase full of lovely holiday memories. Currently living in Zurich, Switzerland, Attila tells us about journeys with eyes and hearts wide open, inspired by a touch of Latin American rhythm, tonalities from good old Jazz, sober melodies and straightforward Pop.
Vural’s percussive guitar playing is particularly inspired very particularly by German guitarist Claus Boesser-Ferrari and experimental pieces by Andy Summers (Police). |

 The 1st Thursday of each month, join saxman and vocalist JP Patrick and his band as they rehearse, work, and play for each other, and for you. The band explores the musical territory of Blues, R&B, Funk and Jazz. Every installment of "Sessions" is unique, as JP often invites different musicians to sit in and perform.
JP plays Blues harp and alto sax, and always performs with passion and energy. His audiences feel it... and love it. His original songs are full of wit and charm. Songs like "Simple Request (Stop Breaking My Balls)" and "Shy of Indigo" showcase his talents as a funky Blues musician who's taking his art to the next level.
Joining JP tonight are Dave McDowell on sax, Paul Bisbano on bass, Linda Geiger on drums, Hank DeCora on guitar other special guests. Nights with JP and his band are always super-fun! You'll enjoy this intimate look at how musicians do what they love to do best: "play".

 Alyssa Cartwright, a recent graduate with a BFA in Painting and Drawing from SUNY New Paltz, makes elemental paintings and drawings inspired by nature and its timeless cycles.
She incorporates line drawings of animals - the bear in particular - with whom she feels a kindred connection.
She believes all living things have a soul, and her art speaks to the unity of spiritual and physical existence.
Her work is attuned to the rhythmic and melodic qualities of the universe, and addresses the past, the present and the future, always keeping in mind that everything has a beginning and an end. |

 The Harvey School Rock Ensemble is an extracurricular group that rehearses September thru May at The Harvey School in Katonah. Classes are open to all experienced musicians, not just Harvey students. Attendees at their concerts have always been amazed at how much more professional and tight this band sounds than your average "student band".
The ensemble is directed by Cary Brown, who is a regular at 12 Grapes as keyboardist for The Geoff Hartwell Band. Cary has toured and performed with The Skatalites, NY Ska-Jazz Ensemble, John Scofield, Sloan Wainwright, Rufus Wainwright, and Yonrico Scott from the Derek Trucks Band.
The Harvey School Ensemble will perform classics by The Rolling Stones and Supertramp in addition to originals written by band members.

 Beki grew up in Indianapolis playing lead guitar with the legendary James "Yank" Rachell (of Diving Duck and She Caught The Katy fame.)
In 1983, she was invited to Woodstock, NY by Rick Danko and Richard Manuel who had discovered her at Indiana University.
In 1988, Beki joined Tom Pacheco for a year when he moved the band to Dublin, Ireland. While she was there, she also joined the Mary Stokes Blues Band and experienced over-night Irish fame due to playing the Guinness Jazz Festival in Cork City and a week long performance on the National TV show, "NightHawks."
In Ireland, Beki shared the stage with Hot House Flowers, members of U2, The Waterboys, members of Thin Lizzy, and backed up blues artists such as Carey Bell, Johnny Mars, Joe Lewis Walker, Tampa Red and Fenton Robinson.
In Dublin, she was commissioned by Bono of U2 to run a blues workshop at a new Rock School/TV show on RTE. The Rock School in Dublin is still going strong today!

 Paul Rivera, also known as, “Sabor” and The Afro-Latineers play a fusion of Latin & Jazz music adding West African & Haitian rhythms when its least expected. “When you like what you hear…say ‘Sabor!’”, and the response from the audience is as energetic as the music.
The Afro-Latineers specialize in engineering musical genres such as, “Salsa”, Latin Jazz, American Jazz standards and Afrobeat. Glenn, Tom and Chris are in Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, and all these fine musicians have performed or opened for many industry greats such as Levon Helm, Elvis Costello, Mark Cohn, Sam Moore, Wilson Picket... the list goes on and on.

Krewe de la Rue is a Cajun band born out of the Hudson Valley fiddle and dance community. The Krewe traces its roots back to the fiddle and dance camp at Ashokan where in the late 1980's the great fiddler and 'Cajun Ambassador' Dewey Balfa along with his young protege Steve Riley first brought Cajun music to the Hudson Valley. Roger Weiss on fiddle, Buffy Lewis on guitar, Laren Droll on accordion, Maggie McManus on tee-fer, Gary Graeff on bass, and June Drucker on drums have years of experience in roots music including both Cajun and Zydeco genres. Together as a group, they create the special mix that is Krewe de la Rue. Buffy Lewis will teach basics of two-step and waltz at 6pm. Even if you have never danced, you will want to once you hear this energized and engaging band. Gumbo, Jambalaya and refreshments available for purchase. Large Dance Space with great wooden floor. Connor Kennedy is, arguably, the Hudson Valley music scene’s fastest-rising prodigy. In a few short years, the young Saugerties guitarist/vocalist has gone from playing open mics to performing with Amy Helm and other venerated names. 
Prepare for the return of Baltimore-based experimental rock band HORSE LORDS and the debut Hudson performance of Berlin-based electronic artist LUCRECIA DALT with local favorites PALM.
