CD Release Performance!
with The Holmes Brothers, Sherman Holmes, Wendell Holmes, Popsy Dixon
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Over the course of their 30-plus year career, The Holmes Brothers (bassist/vocalist Sherman Holmes, guitarist/pianist/vocalist Wendell Holmes, drummer/vocalist and brother-in-spirit Popsy Dixon) have been feeding souls with a joyous and moving blend of blues, gospel, soul, R&B, rock ‘n’ roll and country.

Their amazing three-part harmony singing, mixing Wendell’s gruff and gravelly vocals with Popsy’s soaring falsetto and Sherman’s rich baritone brings the soul and spirit of gospel music into everything they perform. Equally gripping is the rhythmic foundation laid down by Sherman’s bass playing and Popsy’s drumming, perfectly complimenting Wendell’s blues-soaked guitar solos and church-inspired piano playing. The band easily blends Saturday night’s roadhouse rock with the gospel fervor and harmonies of Sunday morning’s church service.

From winning multiple Blues Music Awards to sharing stages and recordings with great artists, The Holmes Brothers have seemingly done it all.

Cash has been part of The Falcon family since its inception as a legendary house concert venue in 2001, and has continued to collaborate with The Falcon, its mission and its vibration. His optical panels were a permanent part of the original Falcon's permanent collection. Most memorably, a bright transparent structure of red yarn - created in front of a performance by the Kelvin Sholar group - jumping, wiggling and jiving with the music.

What does this Work-in-Progress mean? It means the show is alive. It will change frequently as Cash respond to the space, the music and the experience on a weekly basis.

What does this Work-in-Progress mean? It means the show is alive. It will change frequently as Cash respond to the space, the music and the experience on a weekly basis.

Sydney Cash's studios are nearby in Marlboro. With a key to the club, his work-in-progress may happen at any time, day or night. This is a very special opportunity for the artist, whose experimental ideas will be manipulated in continuing improvisation, complimenting the music being performed, and engaging an audience that wants to be thrilled with “all that jazz”.

Opening Act!
with Lost Leaders, Peter Cole, Byron Isaacs, Lee Falco
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
If you took your copies of Deja Vu, Bookends, Full Moon Fever and Disraeli Gears and melted them into one L.P. it might sound like Lost Leaders, the alchemical brew of Peter Cole and Byron Isaacs.

The project was born at Levon Helm's studio in Woodstock, N.Y. in the winter of 2011. The barn was a second home for Byron, bass player for the Levon Helm Band, performing at the Midnight Rambles and on Levon's "Dirt Farmer" and "Electric Dirt" albums, both of which featured Byron's songwriting. Peter and Byron took a week between Saturday Rambles and, with the winter sunlight coming through the plate-glass windows, worked out original tunes with Grammy-winning house engineer Justin Guip.

The duo distills the songs to their most essential elements: their two voices and two guitars contrast with the lushness of the studio recordings. Their arrangements of songs by Beck, Pete Townsend, Neil Young and Tom Petty illustrate their haunting vocal blend and instrumental ingenuity.

Peekskill, NY   See Map
"We lost our mentor and friend Pete Seeger on January 27. He would have been 95 on May 3rd. He left us with a lifetime of songs, stories, and philosophical musings"

Each of the participants has absorbed some favorite things from Pete, and will keep Mr. Seeger alive, in singing, in the telling, and in continuing, as Pete did, to think by ourselves.

Participants: Great Blue (a/k/a Shirl Lawrence & Steve Kaplan), Jay Mankita, Donna Nestler, Rick Nestler, and Rik Palieri.

Great Blue's music and harmonies are organic to Pete's Hudson River oriented songs. Jay Mankita is an excellent songwriter and a guitar wizard. Donna and Rik Nestler are both sea captains, both in the musical group "The Dirty Stay-Out Skifflers". Banjo Rik Palieri is earning every dime as a TV and radio personality, songwriter and folk singer.
