Singer-Songwriter. Pianist
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Gifted pianist, composer, and singer, Akie Bermiss, has been a Man of Letters since he was still in "small clothes". Bermiss began writing music criticism in his years at Bard College, finishing with a degree in music composition. He also studied American Music (read: tin pan alley, broadway musicals, and jazz) and writing (read: wrote some bad poetry and called it good).

To his friends, he is considered a musical snob of the highest order; to his enemies — a musical charlatan of the basest variety. Among other things he is the author of a children’s book (“I Hate to Be Sick” - Scholastic), a lover of science fiction, a huge fan of cigars, and he takes his bourbon: neat.

The musical interaction touches upon issues of cultural transformation, identity, and the retention and continuity of values and practices from culture to culture. It is this resulting hybridization of rhythmic style and instruments that enriches our American musical traditions. The purpose of the program is to educate and inspire the general public, students, and musicians on both history and music. It is presented during the month of February as a contribution to programs honoring the nation's celebration of "Black History Month."

Although Popa Chubby grew up in the 1970s, he took his cue from artists of the '60s, including Sly & the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton, among others.

Chubby's first big break was winning a national blues talent search sponsored by KLON, a public radio station in Long Beach, California. He won New Artist of the Year, and opened the Long Beach Blues Festival in 1992. Chubby played more than 200 club dates a year through the '90s.

His Sony/Okeh debut, Booty and the Beast, was produced by legendary Atlantic Records engineer/producer Tom Dowd, whose recordings by Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Wilson Pickett, and others are timeless.

Troubled by the war in Iraq, Chubby released his most political album, Peace, Love and Respect, followed by Big Man Big Guitar; Stealing the Devil's Guitar; Electric Chubbyland; Vicious Country; Universal Breakdown Blues followed in 2013 and featured Chubby's cover version of "Over the Rainbow" as its centerpiece.

Warm up a Winter night with dinner & dancing! Country Line Dancing with Featured DJ "JP & The Kickin' Mule"!

The Roadside Attraction is real American roots music - with elements of country, bluegrass, blues, folk, jazz and rock sewn into the fabric of their sound.

Full of energy and emotion, the core of this ensemble is singer/songwriter Bob Stump on guitar, Doug Moody on fiddle and Johnny Resk on percussion. Their three part harmonies and virtuoso musicianship have set them apart. Doug Moody’s fiddle with Bob Stump’s vocals can be likened to Willie Nelson with Mickey Raphael’s harmonica.

Bob has recently inked deals with music publishers in Nashville and L.A. and his song the "Cowboy In Me" has aired on Sirius XM satellite radio.

Based in Upstate NY, the band performs concerts and club dates throughout the Northeast. Bob's second CD "Stumpgrass Live" is in the editing stages and will be available soon.

Larry Campbell, 3 time Grammy winning producer, winner of the Americana Association Lifetime Achievement Award for Multi-Instrumentalist & native of Manhattan, spent many years as an A team studio musician in New York’s roots, rock & country scene, recording & touring with the seminal names of Americana music.

When Teresa crossed the Mason Dixon to NYC, she inevitably intersected musically with Campbell. They spent years working/travelling apart, notably with Teresa’s theatre habit that included the creation of the role of Sara Carter, lead singer of The Original Carter Family, for Keep on the Sunny Side, & with Larry’s eight year stint in Bob Dylan’s band.

Recent years have put the two together touring with the Levon Helm Band, Phil Lesh & Friends, Hot Tuna, & joining Little Feat at their Feat Fan Excursions. Among many recordings, they appear on Hot Tuna’s Steady as She Goes, Jorma Kaukonen’s, River of Time, & Helm’s MerleFest Ramble, & the Grammy Award winning Dirt Farm.
