Carrie Rodriguez with Luke JacobsThe FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Carrie Rodriguez came to attention a decade ago performing with singer-songwriter Chip Taylor. The Texas-born classically trained violinist/singer-songwriter delivers everything from dissonant rock fiddle solos to heartfelt ballads. Rodriguez has performed, recorded, or collaborated with many of her heroes including Lucinda Williams, John Prine, Bill Frisell, Mark O'Connor, Los Lobos, Patty Griffin, Alejandro Escovedo, Buddy Miller, and others.

Jacobs is a self taught multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from a small iron mining town in northern Minnesota. He was also a founding member of the popular Minneapolis-based alt country band, Romantica, which is where Carrie first heard him perform. Jacobs’ laid back vocals, blue-collar songs, and soulful pedal steel playing have proven to be the perfect compliment to Carrie’s passion and intensity.

2013 was an adventurous year for Rodriguez and Jacobs, the duo traveled coast to coast across the US and much of Europe.

Marlboro, NY   See Map
Hudson Valley singer/songwriter Willa McCarthy debuted her new band at The Falcon in early September to a standing-room only crowd and everyone had such a good time, we asked her to come back for a repeat performance.

McCarthy has been an active performer in the Hudson Valley for more than a decade, most notably as a member of The Chris O'Leary Band. She met acclaimed and award-winning singer/harp player Chris O’Leary a few years before he became the lead singer for Levon Helm's Barn Burners. When O’Leary launched his own band in 2008 and invited her to join, she jumped at the chance. Of McCarthy, O'Leary has said, "she's my favorite person in the world to sing with."

McCarthy’s vocals are powerful and soulful and her band plays a mix of blues, funk, R&B and rock—including original and cover material—and features Josh Stacy on guitar, Scott Milici on keys, Doug Abramson on bass and Jerry Teters on drums.

Theatresports (tm) combines all the fun and creativity of improv with the excitement of a sporting event.

Teams of improvisers compete for your approval by making up scenes, songs and stories based on your suggestions. The winner gets $700 Billion or a funky trophy, whichever taxes the American Public less.

Don't miss this highly-acclaimed world-wide improv phenomenon.

The Mop & Bucket Co. (MopCo) is the Capital District's premiere improvisational theatre company. The company has been in existence in its present form since 2005.

We make stuff up. Shows, classes, training programs, all sorts of stuff.

"FROM ITS HUMBLE BEGINNINGS, THIS TROUPE HAS MORPHED AND GROWN INTO A TOP-NOTCH UNIT CAPABLE OF ALL KINDS OF THEATRICAL GAMESMANSHIP, MUCH OF THEIR OWN INVENTION."--Michael Eck, Albany Times Union

Joe Moss

Few up and coming young blues performers walk the walk to the degree of Chicago-based guitarist/bandleader JOE MOSS. One of the hardest-working performers on the Windy City circuit, Moss routinely works up to 28 gigs a month. His sound, a winning mix of blues and R&B flavors paired with original songwriting vision, can be heard blasting out of Chicago venues like Buddy Guy's Legends and House of Blues on a regular basis. His stinging guitar and accomplished vocal style have won him fans citywide. His debut CD "The Joe Moss Band" (212 Records) gives ample proof to the rest of the world of what Midwest blues fans have known for some time: JOE MOSS is for real.

A guitarist since the age of 15, Moss was given his passport into the blues world by Buddy Scott, who noticed Moss at a jam session at Rosa's Blues Lounge on Chicago's west side.
