Jazz
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Celebrating the release of "Cross Culture" on Blue Note Records!

"Most jazz musicians are flexible: it’s a philosophical requirement of the job. At 60, Joe Lovano is an extreme case, moving toward universality. Long ago he developed a tenor saxophone sound for his temperament. His starting place is bebop’s complex language, but he seems to be listening to something underneath language and style, something that could be well illustrated by jazz but isn’t specific to it. He’s good with a particular rhythm, or a structure, or a set of changes, but he doesn’t need any of it..... Anything can happen!" - Ben Ratliff & Jon Caramanica/The New York Times

The Joe Lovano Quartet features James Wiedman (piano), Peter Slavov (bass), Lamy Istrifi (drums), with special guests Judi Silvano (voice), Barry Ries (trumpet), Dan Silverman & Larry Farrell (trombones).

MOPCO brings its unique brand of improv to Proctors -- Friday nights at 8:00pm.

Created by Kat Koppett in association with Freestyle Repertory Theatre in New York, Spontaneous Broadway is a virtouso evening of musical improv.

The audience submits titles of "songs that have never been written". In a fictional "backer's audition", these titles inspire improvised songs in act one. In act two, the audience's favorite song serves as the basis of an entire (45 minute) Broadway musical, complete with costumes and set.

The format received a rave review from The New York Times when it premiered in New York in 1995. You ain’t seen nuttin’ like it, folks!

Soñando!
Latin
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
The hot Latin sounds of Soñando have earned them the reputation as the Hudson Valley's premier Latin band. This spicy blend of music and musicians have performed in clubs, at private functions, community festivals, benefit concerts, on radio and television, as well as the Puerto Rico Day Parade in NYC, but the band is at home wherever a dance floor can be cleared. Fueled by a fiery rhythm section and high-octane horns, Soñando plays a wide variety of Latin styles from Plena and Son to Salsa and Merengue!

"The name of the band is Spanish for "dreaming" but when the hordes come out for Soñando, they don't sleepwalk-they dance. And we're not talking a few perfunctory head-bobs or butt-wiggles, they dance until they go up in flames like, Tula's unquenchable bedroom in the Cuban lyrics above." -Woodstock Times

Valued friend and percussionist, Randy Crafton, adds his artistry to the proceedings.

With Heyday Maker completed and released, Andy, Lindsey and Randy have been working on new material and have excitingly expanded the concept by adding singer and guitarist, Timothy Hill. Timothy is a unique artist who specializes in harmonic singing whereby two or more notes can be sung at once - as well as the more conventional types of singing.

The music of Sleeping Bee exists in that unique early 21st century area where Folk, Jazz, Celtic song forms, melodic improvisation, and original ideas all happily co-exist and vitalize each other – Alt Folk Jazz Celt Grass, to coin a term.
