On Saturday, September 28 from noon until six, rain or shine, BMW of the Hudson Valley will present “Beacon ROCKTOBERFEST,” a day of outdoor music wrapping up The Rutigliano Group’s free public programming for the City of Beacon’s Centennial year, marking one hundred years since the villages of Mattawan and Fishkill Landing joined to become the city. The event will be held in the parking lot of the DMV building on 223 Main Street, and will feature a broad range of local professional music artists in folk, jazz, rock and metal, with a beer tent area for patrons to celebrate the season while enjoying the variety of musical offerings.

Don’t miss Vy Higginsen’s Gospel for Teens Choir a nationally recognized and award winning ensemble. The subject of an acclaimed “60 Minutes” profile in 2011 (which garnered two daytime Emmy awards), the choir is comprised of talented young performers who received their training through Gospel for Teens, a program of Ms. Higginsen’s Mama Foundation and her School of Gospel, Jazz and R&B Arts. The Gospel for Teens Choir took the grand prize in the open division at the 2011 Pathmark Gospel Choir Competition of Harlem. In addition to “60 Minutes,” the choir’s other national TV appearances include performances on “The Celebrity Apprentice,” “The CBS Early Show,” and “The Nate Berkus Show.

 Alva Nelson, a multi-faceted musician, has performed & recorded with Lightnin' Hopkins, Kirk Whalum, and Regina Belle. He has been musical director for "Ain't Misbehavin'", "Violet", and "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill" and produced Dorothy Leigh's "A Second Chance", for which he wrote three songs. "Soul Eyes" is Alva Nelson's latest jazz piano release.
Nelson has received three "Meet the Composer" Grants; won 1st Place in the Composers' Guild Composition Contest with "Synonymous Dichotomy" ('83), "Buster's Bounce" ('85) and "Tranquil Jubilation ('88); and was selected as a semifinalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition.
Throughout the 1990's, Nelson performed, arranged, and orchestrated music for the Boys Choir of Harlem, including engagements at Carnegie Hall & Alice Tully Hall with Wynton Marsalis and Kathleen Battle; Hubert Laws and the St. Luke's Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic with Zubin Mehta.

Guitarist & composer Steve Raleigh's playing has been described as "reminiscent of George Benson & Wes Montgomery". He's worked with many great musicians including Judi Silvano, October Project, Evelyn Blakey, Nick Brignola, Darmond Meader (New York Voices), Clint Holmes & Tony Martin, as well as opening for Chuck Mangione. Steve's performed at West Point's Eisenhower Hall, the Storm King Art Center Jazz Festival & many of New York's legendary clubs such as The Rainbow Room, The Glen Island Casino & The Joyous Lake.
Rounding out "The Steve Raleigh Quartet" will be Chris Pasin on trumpet, John Menegon on bass & Jeff Siegel on drums.

| My primary instrument is my voice, and my guitar embellishes, accompanies, and decorates it. My sound and style are my own. Exposure to music and vocal styles of all types, ranging from standards to jazz to folk/traditional to blues, and to the music of Great Britain, the Appalachian Mountains of Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina, have influenced my sound and led me to describe my music as "eclectic acoustic." I have opened for Christine Lavin and Dave Cousins and performed in Showcases and the Open Mic Finals at the Towne Crier Cafe in Pawling, NY, and appeared in venues in the Hudson Valley and Southwestern CT. I perform a good mix of songs, including my own compositions, covers, and traditional music. I like to tell the stories of the traditional songs I sing and might focus on the song's provenance, themes, imagery, history, depiction of characters, etc. |

That includes playing with jazz greats including Maria Schneider and Wynton Marsalis; hip-hop and R&B superstars like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and Alicia Keys; Latin jazz leaders like Pedro Giraudo and Ivan Lins; indie rock ground-breakers such as Sufjan Stevens; or playing in the house band at Saturday Night Live, on the soundtrack of a Woody Allen film, or in the pit for a Tony-winning Broadway musical.
Early 2012 marked the debut of his latest group, the pianoless quartet Catharsis, comprising some of the music’s most compelling young voices: Mike Rodriguez (trumpet), Jorge Roeder (bass), and Eric Doob (drums).

JP has been on the Blues music scene for years, and is a tremendously talented front-man, vocalist and songwriter. He plays Blues harp and alto sax, and always performs with passion and energy.  Orange Hall Theatre is the place to be on Friday, October 4, 2013 for the 8pm performance of The Organik Vibe Trio +1. Cutting edge jazz in a unique array of sonic characteristics are created with the combination of Dave Samuels’s vibraphone and marimba, Ron Oswanski’s Hammond B3 organ, and Marko Marcinko’s drum set and percussion to make rich layers of endless possibilities. Add Adam Neiwood’s saxophones, and the sky’s the limit.
Two-time Grammy Award Winner, Dave Samuels, has established himself as the top mallet player of his generation. The fresh new sounds he brings forth from his instruments raise the bar as well as the energy level while enrapturing the audience. The Hammond B-3 organ, with its harmonic percussion feature, is played with fervor, wit, and intensity by the hot New York jazzman Ron Oswanski. Marko Marcinko’s enthusiasm is expressed through his drums and percussion to set the tone of the performance. His love for his art is apparent and keeps him in high gear.
