Casey Buckley
Acoustic
Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe
40 West MArket Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
If asked who Casey Buckley sounds like, you’ll likely answer: Casey Buckley. An amalgam of sounds old and new, you could easily place him in a small town café or a big city concert hall. He’s played both - along with everything in between.

Listen closer, you’ll begin to notice the sweet voice of James Taylor lilting over the thoughtful fingerstyle of Ryan Bingham. The lyrical quality of John Mayer makes its presence known – whether on these pensive pieces or a powerful belt.

Johansen began his career as the singer of the protopunk band the New York Dolls in the early '70s. Johansen then embarked on a solo career, performing frequently with Sylvain Sylvain. Two solo albums, 'David Johansen' and' In Style' delivered some standout tracks. "Frenchette" and "Funky But Chic" became associated with the Dolls, although they first appeared on the solo albums.

Later, Johansen's pseudonym and alter ego, Buster Poindexter, appeared with Saturday Night Live's House Band, scoring the hit song "Hot Hot Hot". Johansen turned his attention to country blues with the release of 'David Johansen and the Harry Smiths' and also reunited with New York Dolls members in 2005. David continues to host David Johansen's Mansion of Fun, a weekly radio show on Sirius.

Rosetta Trio is a uniquely colorful and hard-grooving all-string chamber jazz ensemble led by Memphis-bred, Grammy-nominated Brooklynite bassist/composer Stephan Crump with guitarists Liberty Ellman and Jamie Fox.

Hailed as “a string ensemble for the new century” by All About Jazz, the group formed in 2005 to record an album of pieces written in the aftermath of 9/11. That album, Rosetta, was greeted with inclusion on multiple top ten lists & ecstatic reviews for its narrative depth & outstanding performances. Their second album, Reclamation (2010), declared “a low-key marvel” (JazzTimes) & noted for its “bareness in emotion” (NPR). Their third album, Thwirl (2013), recorded after eight years of collaboration & on the heels of a two-week European tour, captures Rosetta Trio not only at peak telepathy, but charting new territories of shape & feel.

"Stunning...as close to telepathy as we're going to get." - The Jazz Session "ingenious originals" - The New Yorker

Alexis P. Suter is a rising star on the roots, blues and soul scene. Her powerful bass/baritone voice, seasoned with raw emotion and a wide streak of attitude, has won the praise of the greats!

"She is one of those wonderful spirits, she's got her arms around you, and you can feel that." - Levon Helm "It's a rare thing to share the stage with great talent like that young lady." - B.B. King

Suter is backed by her tight, soul-rocking ensemble. The band is anchored by Ray Grappone’s solid, funky drumming, Peter Bennett on bass, Guitarist Jimmy Bennett's stinging guitar, Benny Harrison's passionate keyboard wizardry and soulful singer Vicki Bell.

The Alexis P. Suter Band has had the honor of opening the show at the acclaimed Levon Helm Midnight Ramble Sessions in Woodstock, NY over 80 times; headlined at BB King’s in New York to a sold out crowd, and others too numerous to list!

Through Gold’s performance and writing, she grabs you by the heart and says “Recognize.”

Gold’s poetry balances the written word with performance, delivering Spoken Word Poetry that is both transformative and entertaining. Peekskill, NY   See Map
Ted Daniel and his International Brass and Membrane Corps (IBMC) will play original tunes composed by Ted as well as inspiring musical tributes to New Orleans' pioneer Jazz composer Joseph "King" Oliver on Sunday, November 4th at the Bean Runner Cafe in Peekskill, New York. Described as "one of the premier trumpet players to arise out of the late '70s/loft-era avant-garde," Ted's skillful interpretation of this innovative cornet master and band leader's music likely stems from their similar musical approach. Ted explains, "King Oliver was one of the main architects of collective improvisation, which at that time was the 'avant garde' of music being created in America. I like to think of my musical efforts as part of this continuum, which is moving the music forward." Performing with Ted are celebrated musicians Newman T. Baker (Percussion), Joseph Daley (Tuba) and Charles Burnham (Violin).
