A true blues veteran, Lucky has played internationally, dazzling fans and critics playing keyboards, guitar, bass, drums and trumpet, with his soulful vocals.

Chicago’s Reader raved, “His musicianship is unassailable…a combination of sleek-handed dexterity and imagination…a happy marriage of blues authenticity and foot-pleasing dance-ability. Jazz
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Mehldau has performed around the world at a steady pace since the mid-1990s, with his trio and as a solo pianist and has attracted a sizeable following over the years, one that has grown to expect a singular, intense experience in his performance.

Mehldau has worked with a number of great jazz musicians, including a rewarding gig with saxophonist Joshua Redman’s band for two years, recordings and concerts with Pat Metheny, Charlie Haden and Lee Konitz, and recording as a sideman with the likes of Michael Brecker, Wayne Shorter, John Scofield, and Charles Lloyd. For more than a decade, he has collaborated with guitarists Peter Bernstein and Kurt Rosenwinkel and tenor saxophonist Mark Turner. Mehldau also has played on a number of recordings outside of the jazz idiom, like Willie Nelson’s Teatro and singer-songwriter Joe Henry’s Scar.

Mehldau's music has appeared in several movies, and he composed two new works commissioned by Carnegie Hall for voice and piano.

Fresh & Original Rock, Funk and Hip Hop
with Watermelon
Funk, Rock, Hip Hop
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Watermelon's sound has been called raucous Rock & Roll with a punch of Funk and undertones of Hip Hop. Watermelon is powered by two lead vocalists, Alex Stewart and Jules Barringer. "Easily strong enough to stand on their own", these two are confident, and it's addicting. Name a note, and they'll hit it. Expect to hear Rock growls, Rhythm & Blues runs, and vocal ping pong. Most importantly, expect to hear the crowd scream back in astonishment when they hear big note after big note.

Having performed hundreds of shows since 2010, and with an arsenal of singles already under their belts, the band has enjoyed converting new fans at every live show. Based in NYC, Watermelon's music is inviting, entertaining, and invigorating. The countless years of jamming in basements, studying musical icons, taking vocal lessons and gigging across the country have added up to this. Watermelon is fresh. Original. And will leave you wanting more!

Jay Collins and the Kings County Band
Blues. Classic Soul, New Orleans Rythm
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Although Jazz saxophone player and singer-songwriter Jay Collins is the horn player of choice for famous artists Gregg Allman, Levon Helm, Donald Fagen, and others, his earthy, original songs are being admired and recorded by young musicians in the Hudson Valley, NYC, and beyond.

Fronting his own “Kings County Band” on gigs throughout the region, as well as continuing to perform and arrange the horn section at Levon Helm’s Ramble in Woodstock, Jay also plays in The Dukes of September, a musical collective featuring Fagen, Boz Scaggs, and Michael McDonald.

In an era where most learn to play music in a school, Mr. Collins is one of those increasingly rare musicians who learned to play, “on the bandstand”. With his Kings County Band, Collins mixes up classic Soul, New Orleans rhythms, and Blues into a funky stew that satisfies!

“He has a killer tone…”-Gregg Allman.

Chris Brown
Singer-Songwriter
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
With his distinct bass tone, Christopher Brown has pleased audiences for more than two decades with his repertoire of musical stories. Chris' special view of the world is portrayed honestly and humorously through his innovative, story-telling lyric, enlivened by a unique blend of folk, country and rock & roll. A reviewer recently wrote, "his sound might best be described as James Taylor meets Johnny Cash."

Chris calls his new album "Characterist". That's because he is not only a singer/songwriter, but an artist/illustrator who can capture a subject's essence through caricature. With a few strokes, he reveals hints of a character's nature or temperament, their mystery or charm. He does the same thing with lyric and melody, outlining and shading characters and moments, even yearnings and states of mind. His deep rumble of a voice can be as direct as an approaching train, yet warm and forgiving.

Chris will be joined by master guitarist and composer Peter Calo.

Ukuleles are small. Yet, ukulele duet Greg Doyle and Wendy Matthews play the big hits, favoring swing and vintage tunes – as well as a few things you might not expect to hear on uke. The Fleas have been playing together as a ukulele duo since late 2006, united by a common love of the music from the 20s through 50s. As the Fleas soon discovered, ukes are perfect for these cheerful, melodic tunes. The Fleas have delighted audiences in venues as varied as the Clearwater Festival, Hoot on the Hudson, Ukulele Cabaret and New York Ukulele Festival, as well as street fairs, restaurants, libraries, art openings and private parties across New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maine.

What do Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Jay McShann, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, John Hammond, the late Jimmy Witherspoon, Dr. John, Maria Muldaur, Roomful of Blues, and the Canadian band The Rockin’ Highliners all have in common? Duke Robillard. Every one of those names has shared recording studio space or stage time with a man who is a legend in the blues community.

In 2007 guitarist, bandleader, singer, songwriter, producer, session player, and a one-man cheering section for the blues, Duke received a Grammy nomination for his "Guitar Groove-a-rama" CD and was also honored with the prestigious Rhode Island Pell Award for "excellence in the arts."

Other awards over the last decade are numerous and global. BB King himself has called Duke "One of the great players."

Duke Robillard is a man in command of a full range of creative talents — unique in the blues, and rare in the music industry. A complete artist at the height of his power.

The Alex Jornov Band is a well-oiled rhythm and blues machine from New York's Hudson Valley.

Built around the powerful, soulful voice of Alex Jornov, the band is made up of a group of highly skilled and experienced musicians from the fertile, upstate local music scene who combine to form a funky, driving sound which gets young and old up out of their seats.

The Alex Jornov Band doesn't rehash the same, tired blues setlist that so many others are content to play. The band's versatility is immediately apparent in their live show. From old, bluesy jazz numbers by the great Nina Simone, to the fresh sound of blues-soul by the likes of Sharon Jones your crowd will hear songs they never knew they loved right along with some old favorites.

The group's ability to gracefully flow between blues, civil rights era R&B, funk/soul, and even throw in a jazz standard or two keeps the audience interested and moving to the beat all night long.

LIVE SOCIETY is a 12 Grapes favorite! Get ready for the best night of dancing, music, harmonies and grooving EVER!

With harmony-rich vocals that drive crowds wild, this 8 piece band puts on a sound and stage show that's a mix of Pop Rock, Indy song-craft and classic Motown/Soul. It's like Maroon 5 meets The Jackson 5. Live Society performs songs by Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding... the list goes on and on. And their original songs are so rich and hooky you won't be able to get them out of your head.

Brothers Kevin and Brian Collazo and their cousin Jason Vargas sing with the unity of family, while the players--blood brothers John Kaiteris (guitarist songwriter), Anthony Candullo (bass), Scotty Harper (sax), and Erik Perez (drums)--are as connected to the pulse as the front line is to the message.

Get yer dancin' shoes on 'cause we're gonna be partying tonight!

Ticket price: SHOW ONLY, $15; DINNER & SHOW, $7 with purchase of dinner entree.

Not all FUNK is created equal. Sometimes something’s missing; a beat with no syncopation, bass with no grooooooooove, vocals with no soul; leaving the listener with a severe case of Honky-Pox. To guard against this, we recommend a soul vaccination administered by the Funk Junkies.

After several years putting the Funk Junkies together with some of New York's best musical talent, we can assure you they are specialists. This 14 piece band with a 5 piece horn section lays down the funk! Check them out to cure what ails you!
