In participation with The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival
with The Wiyos
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
The Wiyos have been rolling for over a decade. They were one of the first "old-timey" bands to emerge on the national scene in the first wave of acoustic bands riding the renewed popularity of early swing jazz, rural folk, old-time blues and Appalachian music. Their relentless touring in the US and Europe, and numerous critically acclaimed albums and EPs landed them a full 28-day summer tour as openers of the 2009 Bob Dylan Show.

In 2012, The Wiyos released their fan-funded concept album, Twist, a 14-track eclectic musical collage loosely based on The Wizard Of Oz. Of course, The Wiyos are mostly known for their amalgamation of "old timey" sounds, but on Twist the band lets their late 20th Century upbringings creep in with their vintage sensibility.

Scotland's The Herald called it [everything from] "junkyard blues to Cuban neighborhood via surf song harmonies and backwoods Appalachia... a fascinating travelogue."

Roswell Rudd, who wrote or co-wrote most of the songs, says, "This horn player is definitely a frustrated singer whose playing has in turn been influenced more by singers than by other instrumentalists, such as Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Al Hibbler. Beacon, NY   See Map
A Concert & Fund Raiser for Common Ground Farm featuring Pianist Neil Alexander performing his solo transcription of Igor Stravinsky’s "Rite Of Spring”, with freshly harvested farm fresh food, a prize drawing and special musical guests, including violinist Rachel Evans. In 1966, a boy sat in a movie theater & watched the evolution of life and the rise and fall of the dinosaurs, accompanied by incredible music. The film was Walt Disney’s “Fantasia”, the music, Igor Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring” and the young boy was Neil Alexander – me. The pounding rhythms and striking dissonances etched themselves into my subconscious, influencing & informing my musical life for decades to come. In light of the Centennial of this game changing – and life changing – piece of music, I am gloriously proud to be bringing the “100 Years Of Spring” project back to my “home turf”, The Hudson Valley.

Joe Young
Acoustic, Folk/Traditional, and Americana
Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe
40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
With a voice and delivery that loosely resembles Ryan Adams, Joe Purdy, Ray LaMontagne, and Sean Hayes, Young has carved a niche for himself in the ears and hearts of listeners everywhere. From standard pop-folk, to soul searching ballads, and a smattering of inquisitive rambling Americana, Young plays music that takes you on a journey. The destination of which is of no real importance, so long as you’ve got your ears and mind open, and are ready to follow him on down the road to aesthetic aural pleasantry.

Since his first experience plucking notes on his acoustic guitar at age 14 to present day, Young has taken a progressive approach to crafting genuine full-bodied tunes that get better and better by the day. Sure he cites Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash as influences. Sure he’s bound to be compared to a number of musicians from yesteryear and present day. This is all fine and well. If you’re really listening; if you’re really paying attention, what you’ll hear is Joe Young.

“The reason man created stringed instruments. David touched them with a lover’s fingers and they moaned that true love right back at him. Wood and wire and flesh spoke.” – Jerry Jeff Walker on David Bromberg

He’s played with everyone, he’s toured everywhere, and he can lead a raucous big band or hold an audience silent with a solo acoustic blues. He became a first-call, “hired gun” guitarist for recording sessions, ultimately playing on hundreds of records by artists including Bob Dylan (New Morning, Self Portrait, Dylan), Link Wray, The Eagles, Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, and Carly Simon.

Featuring David Bromberg - (guitar, mandolin, fiddle, vocals), Butch Amiot - (bass, vocals), Mark Cosgrove - (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Nate Grower - (fiddle, mandolin & vocals), Josh Kanusky - (drums, percussion).

Every Wednesday evening, the parks are alive, with the sound of music. In Kingston, that is. And this superb, cool, night, I will be performing solo, evocative jass and exotic lounge, doing music that will chill you to the bone.

What a great way to beat the heat...grab a chair and some friends, some food and drink, and enjoy a free, community concert under the stars. (Well, not quite)

It's right next to the zoo (yes, there is a zoo in Kingston), so, come see me, a lama, a peacock, a goat, a bear? Oh come on, it's gonna be fun.

She wields an electric guitar as if it were a wand. — LOS ANGELES TIMES Debbie Davies is an award-winning singer, songwriter, guitar player of extraordinary talent. A professional musician since the early 1980s, Debbie ranks among the top blues artists in the country. She has received ten nominations for Blues Music Awards, and in 1997 and 2010 won the award for Best Contemporary Female Blues Artist.

Davies cut her teeth playing in blues and rock ‘n roll bands. She landed the lead guitar spot in Maggie Mayall & the Cadillacs, an all-female band led by wife of British blues pioneer, John Mayall. In 1988 she was recruited by Albert Collins to join the Icebreakers, and for the next three years she was a featured guitarist performing behind one of the most innovative bluesmen of all time.

At the close of 2010 Debbie suffered a broken arm…a “no-no” for a musician! As she began to heal, she started writing and putting many of her experiences and feelings into songs.

Gabriel Butterfield Band Featuring Jimmy Vivino!
Blues
The FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
Gabriel Butterfield is the eldest son of the late, great Chicago Harmonica player Paul Butterfield, the first white Harmonica player to develop a style original and powerful enough to place him in the pantheon of Blues greats. Gabriel grew up on the road, on tour with his father; the music is literally in his blood. Like his father, music is the driving passion of Gabriel's life.

In 2012, again residing in Woodstock, New York, Gabriel launched multiple projects, a documentary film on Paul Butterfield, and a working band that celebrates his father's music.

The band has two configurations that share a handpicked line-up. The Woodstock-based 5-piece core band is fronted by Blues Brothers Band lead singer/harp player Rob Paparozzi, and includes Pete Levin, Jimmy Eppard and Jim Curtin. The larger band is fronted by Guitarist/vocalist Jimmy Vivino, band leader on the Conan O'Brien TV show, and features Steve Guyger, one of the industry's top traditional harmonica players.

It's also a tribute to the great variety of classic music sounds associated with Woodstock, including Acoustic and Electric Rock, Acid Rock, Folk music, and Soul.

So come with us... back to the music... back to the magic... back to the Garden! Break out your tie-dye, put on your sandals, and don't forget to wear some flowers in your hair. Peace.
